Think waaay back - bridal shower gift
Abe's favorite teacher at school is getting married in the fall and she just had her shower in Presque Isle. I would like to get her something...something awesome. The best gift I got from my shower was a super fancy cocktail dress to wear on my honeymoon in NYC. I'm not getting her a cocktail dress.
What was your favorite gift? Thoughts?
Re: Think waaay back - bridal shower gift
Egads. My favourite gifts were all kitchen stuff. I'm a gadget girl, and I got to ask for things I couldn't afford on my own or wanted to upgrade (including dishes).
One thing I hadn't expected, but loved all the same, was a cookbook binder from my aunt that had my new name on it (Daniele Cote's Recipes). She put some of our family recipes in it to get it started, but I have to fill it with my recipes (so far I've only managed to stuff it with ones I need to paste or copy in "later")...
Sorry-- I'm no help!
My favorite gift was the complete series of Sex and the City on DVD from my four best girlfriends, lol. Also, my silverware which I still use and adore.
Does she have anything awesome on her registry or are you looking for a more off-the-beaten-wedding-path gift? Does she wear much jewelry? I love unusual wedding gifts mixed in amongst all the linens, dishes, and such.
I want to get her something quirky. I just emailed her fiance to ask her favorite colors and ask if she wears jewelry (she doesn't in the infant room...for obvious reasons).
I found these really great aprons made in Litchfield. They are a little pricey...but they are awesome...and made in the town I grew up in. She doesn't cook but I think she is interested in learning to cook.
I loved all the servingware pieces that people got us from our registry - platters, pitchers, etc. Also, my sister made us two throw pillows with a dog print pattern. She made sure that the pillows each had a beagle on it since we both grew up with one and plan on adopting a beagle as our first dog. I love these pillows - both for sentimental
EDIT: Sorry! The Nest went nuts on me!
my favorite gift was my kitchenaid mixer. Yes too pricey I know.
What if you bought the apron and put in a certificate for baking lessons with you
I can't really think of anything that stood out from my shower, other than a lot of great stuff from my registry.
One of my favorite gifts to give is a cookbook wrapped in an apron. You use the apron strings to tie it together and align the pocket so it's right on the front and stick the card inside. I like it tie a wooden spoon to the front too.
Nothing we received really stands out; I think it was all registry stuff. (Although I did have one friend add an assortment of cookie decorating materials -- jimmies, mini m&m's etc. in cute jars -- to a set of cookie cutters that we registered for.) But, I have given these: http://www.scarlettalley.com/catalog/CategoryDisplay.cfm?cat=8210&cid=396. (I am addicted to buying pretty bowls.) My sister was given a gift certificate to an art studio, which I thought was awesome.
Love this! Or even a book of your favorite recipes with the apron. I got a really awesome 50s looking one for my shower and loved it.
