Update to T&P's from a few weeks ago
So I went to day for gene testing to only get told that since my Mom was tested and tested negative in not only the regular BRAC1 and BRAC2 test but also on the larger segment test that catches the additional 8% of people that there is no reason to test me. That I won't have development the mutation on my own and since my Mom didn't have it I didn't inherit it. I was kind of left even more frustrated and confused than before. So I have no more answers or anything more than "well there is definitely a genetic component unfortunately there is a gene that we can test for at this time, your one of those people who we are working on a new test for but don't have it yet. " So in all I have no new information and left feeling like I had wasted her time.

I am pretty sure that you didn't waste your time with the doctor. Even though you didn't draw blood for the test, you know that you are negative on that aspect.
I know that you want some sort of closure from this "what-if" waiting game it feels like your body is playing on you. But be encouraged from this visit. If a new test comes out, you take it, but for now, just celebrate the life you have.
Thank you B! You always know the right thing to say! And it was more so that she was giving off a vibe that I was wasting her time. I definitely felt like at least I know for sure I'm negative because before I didn't really know.
Maybe she was frustrated that she couldn't do more for you. (Let's just go with that one.
) I am just so glad that you don't cary that specific gene.
It might not answer everything, but it should be a big relief.
It really is a relief to an extent. The hard part is there is obviously a genetic component but there is nothing we can do about that now. That's what makes me crazy.
