Yarn Wreath!

I was so excited about the yarn wreath post in aweilba's blog that I ran right out to Hobby Lobby and got my craft on!

I'm going to make 4 for my classroom. I'm a kindergarten teacher and thought it would be cute if I had one to hang that coordinated with each season. To get my feet wet I started with my Fall wreath. I used brown yarn and fall colors (red, orange, golden yellow, and dark purple) felt for the flowers. I followed the tutorial that aweilba posted (http://www.danielleburkleo.com/2010/10/diy-yarn-wreath-with-felt-flowers.html)...and TA-DA!!!!

*forgive the blurriness...I took the pics on my cell phone*

Seriously guys, this was SOOOO super easy to make. I can't wait to make my other 3 and I can easily see myself making more for around the house (much to the dismay of my DH...lol)!

Re: Yarn Wreath!

  • That's so cute! You did a great job!! This was like my first DIY project ever so I was a little bit of a spaz making mine. It took me 1 hour to untangle the yarn mess that I made........ I have to post pictures of it. I love that you want to make one for each season!!
  • Cute!  Glad I could inspire you. ;) I love the colors you chose!
  • Thanks guys! I searched a couple other sites for more ideas and came across a tutorial for a cute pom pom type flower.

I'm going to try these later as well! :-)

Aweilba- I also loved the pic of the stripped wreath that you posted on your blog. After I get a few more under my belt, I'm gonna try to tackle one like it. :-/ It definitely looks a bit harder though!

Yeah, I love that one!  I love the creative flowers in it.  I'm trying to find a place to put another one of these inside of the house... maybe inside of the back door?  DH just smiles and nods as I contemplate these things.

  • Those are super cute!!!  I am going to have to go look up some instructions how to make those :-)  I love all things yarn and could use a project!

  • AHHHHH now that's I've looked these up I'm even more hooked, and need to start one asap!!!  This would be an awesome project to use up leftover yarn too :-)  I think I just added another item to my "home-made gift" repertoire!
