christmas dishes

so DH's aunt has collected christmas odds and ends though out the years to give to him when he got married. Most of it is very pretty and it was a great idea

I was always told that our christmas "china" was a moose pattern. I was thinking Fitz and Floyd or something along those lines (silly me for not asking questions about it)... Its definitely stoneware (similar to fiesta in weight) with a hunter green moose sponged onto it. Its kind of campy and goes with NOTHING that was in the Christmas box, or anything else we have.

Not using it is not an option because its so sentimental. So, I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions as to how to integrate this campy moose into a more modern/traditional Christmas setting? Its only a set of 4 so maybe mix and match with other things...but what??

Re: christmas dishes

  • Since it's just four plates, it wouldn't really be useful as dishes for dining anyway. So maybe just use them as small platters for Christmas cookies/candy when people come over or you go to a potluck?
  • I'm not sure how exactly they look - but could you maybe get a few other "random" plates and use plate stands and make it decorative somewhere in like a guest bedroom?  That's what I did with the decorations my MIL gave me that didn't match.
  • When / if you have kids make one the official cookie plate that you set out for Santa.  Keep the other three as extras in case one breaks.
