how bad will traffic be on Friday?
DH and I are heading down to Kilmarnock, VA on Friday. We usually take 301 and go across the Gov Harry Nice Mem Bridge or take 95 South to 17. We are thinking about leaving work at noon. Are we crazy? Should we just take the whole day off?
TIA!
Rikki
Re: how bad will traffic be on Friday?
It's been my experience that most people leave work early the day before a holiday weekend, so any time after lunch you are bound to hit traffic. If you want to play it safe, I'd either take the day off and leave early that morning, or wait until post-rush hour. We headed to the beach around 7:30 PM the Friday before Memorial Day and the roads were practically empty.

That's usually our strategy. Granted, we're going east, not south, but I think the same reasoning applies. We rarely have trouble if we leave around 7:30 or 8 pm. You would not catch me on the road between the hours of 12-6.
