Mr.D's aunt organizes her church rummage sale and someone she knows donated a crib. She offered it to me free of charge.
So of course I ask for the model number so I can google any recalls. It's an Evenflo Jenny Lind crib and it has been recalled because it is a drop side crib. Evenflo is offering a free repair kit to immobilize the drop side that I can still order.
Would you still take the crib even though it was recalled as long as the repair kit was secured properly?

Re: Crib question
"Wearing his BING CROSBY clothes and crooning...buuuh buuh buuuh"
I wouldn't but that's just me. I am sure it's perfectly safe, but with all the new restrictions on cribs i would still be nervous.
Ditto. I'm sure it would be safe but I'd always be nervous in the back of my mind about it so for peace of mind I wouldn't use it.
I agree with Shannon and lachute. I'm all about hand me downs and reusing things, but a crib is one of those things I would just prefer new. They are always changing crib guidelines. They just came out with new ones yesterday. Car seats and cribs are two of the only gear things I would want new.
However, maybe it would be good for a grandparents house?
Ditto this exactly.
I think that's what it is - in the back of my mind, I'd always be thinking about it.

Sure, I'll make you a list. And then I'll just have them duplicate my registry for you! I draw the line at writing thank you notes, though.

My little nuggets
Really? And you're having a kid too, yes?
My little nuggets
I'm just gonna throw this out there. My cousin was in a drop side crib about 25 years ago when they were very popular and tons of people used them. His drop side went down one morning while he was playing in the crib right after he woke up and his umm...manhood got trapped in between the drop side rail and the crib mattress. Luckily all his parts are in tact but after I heard that I could never use one no matter how many people have used them without incident (including my mom who had me in one).
