What's going on this weekend?
With Canada Day on Friday and 4th of July on Monday, seems to be long weekends on both sides of the borders. Since I'm a little removed from things, fill me in on how you plan on celebrating this weekend!
That being said, London has organized Canada Day celebrations in Trafalgar Square on Friday, with free concerts all day. Headline act is Blue Rodeo, one of my favourite bands of all time, so I will definitely be heading out to join the party!

Re: What's going on this weekend?
sushi, that's pretty cool! Is this a normal thing or is it special this year?
We're going to a wedding! It's in Kingston, 3 hours away. Our plans for this wedding have been rather tentative because I'm so close to the end, but the doctor gave me the OK and said that there's an excellent hospital in Kingston
.
Anyway the reception will be held at the Royal Military College there so I'm pretty sure there will be some good fireworks and celebrations.

The only thing I'd planned on for the weekend was making some bison burgers for dinner on Monday. Nothing too special, honestly. I may or may not get a couple of slices of apple pie from our neighborhood deli, too.
We're going to finish our patio this weekend, with help from some friends. We have about 1/3 of the pavers laid. We need to finish the sprinkler system re-route, then fill & level the remaining area, then lay the rest of the pavers, followed by the polymeric sand 'grout'. This project has dragged on forever - I am very anxious to get it moving. We still need another dumpster too.
Other than yard reno, we will grill/smoke something yummy and get in a few bike rides and maybe a big hike.

I was quite impressed when I heard about it. They're even having a [street] hockey tournament too. I'm guessing they do it every year, but I've been a bad Canadian and not known about it.

I have a 4 1/2 day weekend, woohoo!
The plan right now is we'll be going to New Mexico my family reunion from Friday night to Sunday morning. Then we'll meet up with some friends at Pueblo Reservoir in southern CO from Sunday - Tuesday. I'm thinking now we might skip New Mexico, do some yard work Friday and Saturday then head to the reservoir - but we'll see.
Portland Waterfront Blues Festival!
We're taking the Amtrak down so we can relax and not deal with traffic. Festival is from 10am-11:30pm with after hour shows at our hotel until 1am.
Not sure if any of you are blues fans, but some of the highlights of weekend include Buddy Guy, Curtis Salgado, Robert Cray (he played with Stevie Ray Vaughan the night he was killed, so did Buddy Guy) and Lucinda Williams.
My goal for the weekend is to take Casey and Palmer (my parents' dog) to the dog beach, and sit on our deck with a book and maybe some wine. We're heading to a friend's party on Sunday evening too, but aside from that I'm looking forward to a relaxing long weekend.
Kari, will you pack me in your suitcase? The festival sounds like tons of fun.
Sure! We've got room! Amtrak is very generous with baggage allowance. DH and I can each take 3 large suitcases and a carry on plus a personal item! Of course one of those is for smuggling booze into the concerts!
