BC - Did you like/love/hate it?

(I'm pfp at the moment so I'll be back with other comments) but... What were your feelings toward the book in general? Did you love it? Like it? Hate it? Why?

Re: BC - Did you like/love/hate it?

  • I both loved and hated it.  There were parts of the book that hit so close to home for me with a relationship I had when I was 21 (and stupid) that brought back so many good/horrible memories.

I really enjoyed it while I was reading it. I finished it in a couple of days (of course, I read half of it while in the air so that sped up the process). Looking back, I'm a little annoyed at myself for rooting for Rachel so much even though I still hate Darcy. I have such mixed feelings because I hate what she did, but I still liked her. I'm looking forward to seeing the movie when it comes out on Netflix, though.

  • I'll second Jaime on the love/hate aspect of this book. I also finished it in 2-3 days, but it did bring back a lot of memories of a past relationship that still leaves me hurt when I think about it too much.  I did like it enough to want to read the rest of the books in the series.

I started off hating the book and trying to figure out why I was even reading it.  Then a few chapter's in I started liking it enough to keep going.  Then I hated it again.  Overall it was an easy read but the character's annoyed me so much that I ended up hating it.  I didn't like the subject matter and felt like there really was no point in me reading the book.  I despised Darcy and couldn't grasp how Rachel could stay in such a terrible freindship with her.  I didn't care much for Rachel either although I liked her much more than Darcy.   I felt like Rachel needed to grow a pair, grow up, and move on with her life.

  • I'm not a huge fan of typical "chick lit" but I like to read them once in a while as a guilty pleasure.  I would put this in that category.  I've read a whole lot worse!

Totally agree. I wouldn't want to be friends with either character.

  • I really hated this book, it was an easy read, I'm not the biggest fan of chick lit in the first place but I tried to read it with an open mind and I hoped to enjoy it.  Like Kasi, I went from hating it, to maybe enjoying it a little bit and then hating it.  I really hit a wall when we found Darcy was cheating with Dex.  I couldn't relate to any of the characters in the story and it just seemed like an outlandish situation they were all in.

I couldn't see myself being friends with either Darcy or Rachel, and all I could think was how is Rachel still friends with Darcy.

  • I really enjoyed this book. I read it a while back so i dont remember specific details on it. But i do remember being hooked and reading it pretty quickly. I do also remember not liking Darcy at all! I dont think what Rachel did was right at all but i did prefer her over Darcy. I guess that's why i was rooting for her to end up with Dex more than Darcy.
  • While I didn't love it I more than liked it.I enjoy quick easy reads and I do like Chick lit. I have read it before (and re-read it for this after I saw the movie)
