Holiday/Wknd Plans?!

I know this is early, but since it's 4th of July, I'm anxious for the wknd!

What are your plans?!

Re: Holiday/Wknd Plans?!

  • Friday I have a half day and I'm meeting my grandma for lunch at a new restaurant that opened in town and then running a bazillion errands and trying to get laundry done. Nothing too glamorous, haha.

Saturday morning myself, DH, my brother and my dad are going to a shooting range with some of my dad's coworkers and we're going to shoot hand guns - I'm so scared/nervous/excited. I've never tried a hand gun before.

Saturday evening some old friends of ours who moved to China are going to be back in town so we're having dinner with them. It's going to be crazy, I haven't seen or really talked to the girl that's my age since I was like... 5 maybe?

Sunday morning my dad and I may go for a 6 mile run. we'll see.

Sunday evening we're going to a local baseball game (they're a minor league team) and then there's fireworks at the field after the game.

Monday morning we're doing a 4k race (4k...get it?). I hope it's not crazy hot and sunny like it was last year. The evening we're going to go watch fireworks from my grandmas condo - she can see the local fireworks from her balcony so it's a great way to watch from the comfort of home.

whew. I didn't realize I had so much planned!

We're off Friday because it's Canada Day!  William and Kate are here (starting tomorrow), so we'll be avoiding downtown like the plague on Friday.  We plan to lay low, BBQ and likely go watch the fireworks on Friday night.

Saturday I have a much needed appointment for highlights and a hair cut.  We may also go see Crazy Stupid Love that day/night.

Sunday we have a BBQ to go to for a friend's birthday.  We also really need to get some cleaning and yard work done!

Thanks I think I know where to go Sunday night for fireworks now Stick out tongue

Friday night we are playing in a concert at a historic theater with a neighboring community band (they asked DH to play because they are short trumpets and then realized they could use me on bassoon as well-actually more so than they could use him).

Saturday are the community yard sales in town so I'd like to walk around a bit and see if I find anything worth spending the money.  Then we're mostly lounging around because we have a concert with our normal community band from 7-11 with fireworks after!!!  This is the concert where DH and I started really talking 2 years ago so it is a big deal for us, we probably won't get out of there until after 1:00.

Sunday I want to go see fireworks but otherwise it will mostly be just working on our front bedroom probably.

Monday I think Harrisburg has their fireworks display which is the first outing DH and I had so I can probably convince him to go-last year he felt like a real heel for forgetting even though I kept asking to leave to go...

On Canada day some friends and I are driving to Stratford, and we're staying until Sunday.  We're going to see two plays--Twelfth Night and Jesus Christ Superstar.  On Sunday it's my birthday, and all I have planned is to visit with my friends, drink wine, and drive back home with them.  Should be fun!  I wish Matt had that weekend off, but he doesn't. :(

I went to and teach at EJ...and our concert is in Lewistown...I saw you were from State College so it shouldn't surprise me but even though it is only an hour away we don't tend to know a lot of people from State College...

  • We just had our hardwood floors refinished this week and have been staying with our parents, so to get away while the floors are drying Thursday afternoon we are driving to the finger lakes.  We are staying one night at a winery that we got a gift card for at our wedding.  Saturday and Sunday we'll probably work on the house.  Monday we have a few bbqs to make an appearance at.

  • I am just excited to be home for good this weekend!!!

Friday: I will completely unpack and probably clean the house.  I need to shampoo our area rugs, so if it is nice outside I can do that (I have to do them on the front porch so our hardwood doesn't get wet).

Saturday: DH and I will probably run errands and I might just be lazy the rest of the day after he goes to work.  I will just be glad to be home!

Sunday: My cousin is having her annual 3rd of July party.  She lives in a town just across the river from me and our towns have a mutual fireworks show that night.  You can see it from her front yard, but I usually leave before the fireworks and watch it from our front yard.  The traffic afterwards is awful so I avoid that by getting home before fireworks.

Monday: We are hosting anyone who doesn't already have plans at our house for a picnic.

  • Becca- Let  us know how the range works out!  And I?m jealous of your 4th race!  We used to always do a 5k Firecracker race (my parents and I) in my hometown and I haven?t found a replacement here.  Have fun!

Nf (I just realized I don?t remember your name, I?m sorry!! Can you remind me) ? I?m also ignorant-is Canada Day similar to US?s 4th of July?

Eeva- Happy early birthday!!  We read the Twelfth Night in high school, I can imagine that?d good to see acted out!

Christie ? good luck with your picnic!

    ______

As for my plans (sorry for funky font)

Tonight- my little sister is coming in town, and we have a small group (DH, sis, bro, SIL, and few friends) going to see Ben Harper in concert (I posted about this awhile ago and mistakeningly said Jack Johnson; although really I wish it were Jack instead of Ben!) oooo and I also have my first EVER derm appt after work which I'm excited for!

Fri - I took the day off work; well slightly (essentially I've worked extra in the week so I only have to use 3 hours of vacation instead of a whole day).  We're going to Cubs-White Sox game at noon.  It's going to be incredibly/awesome-crazy hot and I can't wait for a beer, baseball and a tan!!  While we're at the game my sis is chilling at home.  We have no other set plans but she's flying out to NC to see a friend at night, so I have to drop her off the train to get to the airport (it was a last minute thing; but she got a ticket for $160; usually $360!)

Sat- my long run in the morning (9 miles!); then we have tix for the 3pm Cubs-White Sox game

After the game and for the rest of the wknd; no set plans; but it's supposed to be 85-90 and sunny this wknd; the family we babysit for has a roof-top pool and are out of town; so we'll be spending a lot of time enjoying their pool for them! Whoo-whee!

Monday, the 4th- is our best mans/DH's best friend's bday; there's nothing planned but I know some kind of shennanigan's will occur.

I'm late to this but oh well Stick out tongue

Tonight after work I am going to hang out with my BFF (the pregnant one); we're going to dinner and then hanging out at her house just the two of us.  She gets her cerclage (cervical stitch) out on the 5th which can often cause early labor, (she's actually due 8/2) so this may very well be the last time we hang out before the baby comes, so I'm excited it'll be just us and we can do lots of girl talk.  Jason works 7am-4 pm Saturday and Sunday, so I intend to take some naps, read, and get some stuff done around the apartment.  I haven't went grocery shopping in over 2 weeks and the only meat we have left is a pack of lunchmeat, and 2 hot dogs lol, so I'm thinking I'll go grocery shopping on Saturday.  We're both off on Monday so we're either going to a big 4th of July celebration at a local park or else heading down to Jason's brother and sister-in-laws house to have a cookout with them and watch fireworks with our niece.
