Cheesy or Awesome - Opinions Needed.
My granddad's birthday is 7/15, we are going to visit them that weekend and I had thought of giving him the following as a gift but need to know if it is too cheesy.
Backstory: He is a two time colon cancer survivor, he was first diagnosed in 2005, had surgery to remove tumors and had to get a full colon removal/ostomy bag. He had a good 5 year cancer-free run, which with cancer is usually the all clear mark. He went to get his official "in remission!" stamp on his chart two weeks before our wedding and instead found out there were tumors in his liver and kidneys and had to have surgery two days before our wedding instead of walking me down the aisle. Sad day. He is very big on being a survivor and is this awesome farmer guy in work overalls who comes to the hospital after people get ostomy bags and helps them cope with the drastic new changes. He is the leader of a support group in the area.
All of that being said, the race I ran last week was for colon cancer research and I ran it pretty much only for that reason. So, for his birthday I was going to get a shadow box and put my race bib, my in honor of bib and a race picture in it and give it to him.

On a different note, my favorite Aunt died of colon cancer. So, I'm very jealous that your grandfather was able to fight it. How is he doing now?
I'm sorry, Renee, it's such a terrible disease and unless you go for routine colonoscopies, which no one wants to do, it is hard to detect.
He is doing excellently. Had he not gotten the full colon removal it would have cost him his life. He came through the second surgery very well and was just able to get his kidney removed and a piece of his liver removed. He is just as active and funny as always, so we got very, very lucky.

My MIL is also a colon cancer survivor. One of the races that my DH did, they made stickers that said "I ride for DH's mom(insert her name there)" which I thought was pretty cool.
Your grandad sounds like an awesome guy!

I voted awesome as well. Your granddad sounds like he would really enjoy such a personal gift! We lost my grandpa to it a few years ago to it, and know what a tough fight it can be. I totally support you, and am thankful you are helping fight against colon cancer! *hugs*

Special Snowflake is what the international boards use as a third option in polls for "Neither of these answers is how I feel, I will say something in the comments." I am just used to it being the third option - sorry for the confusion ladies!
I think even if you aren't able to get a picture, it will still be awesome.

My pics are bordering on alien-chunky kid, but I think I will buy one anyway. Taking good pictures while running and not knowing where the camera is pretty much impossible anyway and my grandad will love alien/chunky just as much as a beautifully re-touch pro photo.
