Hope I didn't miss anyone.

Just checking in to see how you are feeling about your PP body. I lost all the baby weight almost immediately, but still feel all jiggly and jello-y. When I put back on 4 extra lbs, I panicked. I am working on incorporating more physical activity into my day (and it is HARD to get myself to do it with the work day and not living near a paved road/sidewalk).

My regular method for losing weight (aka not eating) is not going to work. I have cut back the past week and have already seen a decreased output when I pump (this is potentially compounded with a couple days in a row of going a long time between nursing/pumping due to a concert and a class I attended).

Have you needed to watch what you're eating at all? I'm trying to decide if I still cut back and just start up fenugreek again or if what I'm pumping is going to be enough (since my stash is several weeks ahead of her and we're 3 months out from her birthday), or if I need to put my reduced intake on the back burner until she's a year.

  • Like you, I lost the pounds pretty fast. I'm actually 2 lbs under my pre-preg weight - I attribute that to BFing and margots allergies forcing me to eat super healthy. However, I still feel jiggly, especially in my midsection. I keep wishing it away, but it's not working for some reason. Haha I was taking Margot and Little on 3 walks a day, but it's just too hot now to go out walking before 6 pm.

I eat a lot!! BF makes me sooo hungry! However, like I said earlier, because of margots food allergies, I eat very healthy. My current snacks include homemade baked apple chips (these hit my sweet tooth too. Yumm), coconut milk yogurt with homemade granola, homemade larabars (I was skeptical about these because I don't like dates on their own, but these are awesome!), and homemade bread with homemade hummus. I make a lot of stuff now so that I know what's going in it and as a bonus, it's cheaper! These are all super easy and make a lot too.

  • I am not back to my prepregnancy weight, but I was hardcore working out at that time. I am about 5 lbs from that weight, but am the same size I was when DH and I started dating. I am okay with that.

I really want to start working out again.  I think that I would feel so much better. I am just having a hard time fitting it in.  I need to start going during lunch.

I still eat a ton, but my supply hasn't been able to keep up with Will.  We started supplementing a few weeks ago. I am still trying to figure out the balance of pumping/nursing/supplementing.  At this point, I am not going to try to increase my supply but am not ready to throw in the towel on BFing.

  • Ok, here goes my bit... if you cut back on a well balanced diet, including fats, your baby won't get the proper amount of nutrients. Your BM loses up to 50% of its nutrition for them as it is around 6 months (which is why you need to start solids then), so what they do get is vital.

Your body also will store that last 10-15 pounds because you are BFing, so keep in the back of your mind once you stop, you should shed those last few pounds anyway, and shed them pretty quickly. So if you get to those last few pesky pounds will still BFing, you are actually on target.

You aren't really supposed to be hard-core working out until 6 months anyway as it can take that long for everything to settle back into place. The celebs who drop all their baby weight right away do so under careful watch of a doctor so I think it is really misleading and sets up an unfair expectation, ya know?
