I'd like to make this for a 4th of July BBQ. I googled and found so many variations. Does anyone have a tried and true recipe?
Re: Sangria
mmmmmm....I make white and red.
For white: your fave white wine, some simple syrup, either apple pucker or peach schnapps, and fresh peaches, blackberries, orange slices. top it off with some club or sprite before serving
For red: your fave red wine, some simple syrup, Sunny D (yes, for real), orange slices. a little club or sprite to top it off before serving
For the white how much schnapps and soda do you put it or do you just do it by taste?
Schnapps - I just add a couple glugs...enough to get to be able to taste it, but not too much that it's over-powering. sorry, I measure nothing.
Soda - I either add a can to the pitcher, or a little bit into a glass.
You can also freeze the oj into ice cubes and throw them into the pitcher. My friend used a recipe that had brandy in it (I think????). Her sangria was dangerous, b/c it was so refreshing and then the alcohol would sneak up on you FAST. She always filled the pitchers with various cut up fruits--apples, oranges, limes.
Ha! I love that you measure by the glug! I don't measure anything.
This is my recipe, and it gets rave reviews every time. Normally, anyone I tell this to I would have to kill, so you are lucky I don't know where you live
Also, this is for one glass, so if you wanted to make a pitcher, you have to multiply it, obviously.
3 ounces Cabernet Sauvignon
1 ounce red apple liquor
1 ounce cranberry juice
1 ounce pineapple juice
splash of sprite
1/2 ounce of grenadine.
For garnish, I chop up circles of oranges and limes, dice up some apples and freeze fresh cherries overnight to use instead of ice.
