How can I get my kid to sleep in her own bed?
Hannah is a month old, and refuses to sleep in the Pack n play. I hate that I have to have her in my bed so that we can all get some sleep. We tried the swing, but that only lasts for about 20-30 mins at a time.
Also, she is still eating every 2 hours (maybe 3, but thats a stretch). When does this end? Will I ever get sleep again?? Its a good thing she is adorable...

Re: How can I get my kid to sleep in her own bed?
I haven't slept more than a two hour block in 8 months. Abe still sleeps part of the night in our bed...most in the co-sleeper.
I'm not help!
Good luck!!
We started with the crib right from the first night home. She was swaddled for the first 4 months I think, then she did great without it. I think it's just like Meg said, make sure she is in it everytime (yah, we had the occasional snooze in the bouncy chair and the swing too, and for a few weeks, we even had her napping in the PNP).
Getting her to sleep in the crib, was easier than getting her to nap not on you. She was drifting towards needing to sleep on someone. About 8 weeks old, we started heating up a rice pack (the nice lavendar smelly ones for your back) in the microwave, putting it in the PNP under a blanket. It heated up the PNP pad and the blanket so when we put her down to sleep in it, she was going from warm to warm, not warm to cold.
The other thing we did was, for napping only..and only in the PNP since it was downstairs in the living room, was to put her down on her belly. Not sure what it was but she slept so much better. At first I was really nervous about it but she was fine and we were watching her.
So, long story short, you can do it!
I agree w/ Megan about putting the baby in the crib every time for naps & night. We did it w/ Jake and Katie (Jake slept overnight in the co-sleeper, Katie in the crib, and both nap/napped in the crib). I never swaddled Jake because he didn't need it, but Katie totally needed it. We went thru a rough sleep patch when Katie was maybe 1-3 weeks old, and DH suggested the swaddle which was an absolute miracle. I swaddled her for every nap and at bedtime, and just weaned her from the swaddle this past week per our pedi's recommendation. She's still sleeping great, thank God!
As for the sleep stretches, she woke to nurse every 2 hours like clockwork until she was 8 weeks. Jake was the exact same until 7 weeks. They both started sleeping 4-5 hour stretches at that point (per the baby book, otherwise I would have no clue). They sleep stretches just naturally lengthened as the newborn sleepy stage ended, and they were awake more in the day and slept better at night. Katie now sleeps in stretches anywhere from 7-10 hours at a time at night *knocking on every wood object within reach*. I think it's just a developmental and temperament thing, as "normal" is a huge range at this point. Hoping for sleep for you soon - and man is she a cutie!!

Swaddle for sure, and try tucking two rolled-up receiving blankets on either side of her so that she feels even more snuggled. Also, I third the idea of trying the crib for bedtime. Owen HATED sleeping in the PNP pretty much from day one, but he slept in his bassinet (basically a large open basket with a mattress and no hood) and the crib just fine. I don't know if the PNP is uncomfortable, or if the bassinet part of it is too cavernous, but he just didn't like it.
Like Katie & Jake, both Ellie and Owen really started stretching out their night sleep around 2 - 3 months. I'm betting Hannah will turn a corner very soon. Hang in there!!
The first month we took turns staying up with her so she was pretty much held at all times while sleeping. As she hit the one month mark she started sleeping longer than 2-3 hours at a time and we started putting her in the bassinet for her long stretch. She was tightly swaddled and we used a sleep positioner (which they're now saying is bad, but it did wonders!) FYI, her long stretch was 4 hours from about midnight to 4 AM lol. I'm of the do what you can to get sleep camp, especially in the beginning. R spent a good amount of time in and out of our bed the first 7 or 8 months, but not so much after she got mobile. She also slept in our room in the bassinet, then the PnP, until 9 months.
She nursed every 90 mins to 2 hours until she was 7 months old when she moved to every 3 hours....but plenty of kids do longer stretches way earlier. She was a boob-a-holic.
