As I mentioned before, I lost at least more than half of my collection to the evil VHS monster, and I need to replenish, for Samma's sake (... and maybe my own).
I keep receiving these emails about the Disney Movie Club from my various parenting sites, and of course it seems like the ideal thing for me right now since there's so many videos I want/need.
So here's the info for the Disney Movie Club:
Disney Movie Club
It seems pretty straight forward... or am I missing something huge and this is in reality a gigantic scam?

Re: s/o Disney movies
It's a subscription scam. Put them all on your Amazon wishlist and wait for them to go on sale. We've been collecting for our future spawn since the days of dating.
Also- we are buying the DVD/ Blu Ray/ digital copy ones because we can stream them on our ipad if we're ever traveling- they keep a website log in and you can watch from anywhere. So awesome.
Stand up for something you believe in.
Yeah, that's what Chris thinks too -- *sigh* I guess I'll just make an Amazon wishlist and hope for the best.
Also -- I despise the idea of the "combo packs." If I want a Blu-Ray, I want to buy the Blu-ray.... I don't want the DVD too! Abd you pay for it because you don't have any other option, and it annoy the f*ck out of me. Grr.

I was part of the Disney Movie Club for awhile. It's not so much of a scam as just not better than Wal-Mart.
You sign up, get 5 free movies (shipping only to be paid) and then you have to buy 3 movies at full price the first year, then they don't care what you do. If you don't buy the 3 movies at full price within the time limit, they charge you full price for the 5 free ones.
You don't get any "special" deals, like I figured the DMC would have access to the Vault, but Nooooooo, I'm currently waiting for the Lion King to come back this November like every other Disney freak on the planet. I did get a few movies that weren't carried in stores 8 years ago, like "Duck Tales and the Legend of the Lost Lamp." Or if they were in stores, you had to pay an arm and a leg for them. I got Duck Tales for $14 through DMC, or I could have paid $40 at FYE.
It's all about your needs. If you want the 5 free/reduced ones and are willing to do the 3 full price, then it's worth it for a year. If not, you're better off scanning the $5 bin at walmart.
ETA: just read the info from your link, so obviously my numbers are wrong, but the general idea is still the same.
That's part of my rationale as well.... blah....

Oh! And if you forget to send back the little thing or reply online that you don't want the featured title, they send it to you with a bill. Their customer service is really good though...I didn't realize that my first month and called and they told me "no problem, just pay the shipping to send it back." So I just took the DVD to the post office and paid $5 to send it back. So don't screw that up or you'll be out $5 every month.
