I am visiting DH's cousin in Zurich in a few weeks, and wanted to know what the most worthwhile things would be to do, since I will only be there a week.
Here are some of her suggestions, so let me know if you have done these before or not and how they were:
In Zurich:
Niederdorf
Bahnhofstrasse
Lindenplatz
Grossmunster, St. Peters, and the Fraumunster churches
Swiss National Museum
The Lakefront
Farmers Market/Flea Market
Zoo
Outside of Zurich:
Uetliberg
Rapperswil
Lucerne and Rigi
Lauterbrunnen
Brn and Murten
Gruyeres and Fribourg
Stein am Rhein, Schaffhausen, and Rheinfalls
Lugano
Freiberg, Germany
Munich, Germany
Colmar, France
Strasbourg, France
Milan, Italy
Or, I am willing to take any other recs, as well. I am trying to stay just on day trips, so we don't have to spend the night somewhere else, but if it's worth it, I can do a night over somewhere else and come back the next day.
Re: Things to do in Switzerland and surrounding areas?
Ohhh..that would be fun. I'll keep that in mind. It should still be in that timeframe. Actually, maybe i need to avoid those areas like the plauge! lol. I am sure they will be crawling with people.
we went to Chur outside Zurich and took the panaromic train into Italy. It took three hours and was beautiful. Chur was a small city where no one spoke English and everything was written in German. The one day we were there we bought some bread and chocolate and just walked around the city. You will notice that in switzerland they love their bell towers. They are everywhere.
I think the panaromic train has other routes than going into Italy.
