    We went to Santa Fe in October year before last and really enjoyed it. Great food, great museums, outdoor things to do.

    We were thinking a nice AI in Mexico... the particular resort we wanted is out of our budget. Maybe I'll get lucky and they'll have a deal in the next couple of months!

    J wanted to consider places outside of Mexico, but I came up blank other than getting a nice hotel in downtown Indy and heading over to see the Colts play in the new stadium... but with the upcoming season in limbo and J not being a Colts fan...

    I think I really just want to park my butt on a beach somewhere and drink margaritas and eat ceviche for 4 days.

    We love this place..  It's not fancy, but it's clean, cheap and quiet...  We've been at least 5 times and always go back for more...

    We were planning a short trip for our anni in October, we'd discussed NYC, Chicago and Boston but I was leaning towards Boston because I wanted to go to Salem around Halloween.  But it's probably not happening now, due to work crap.  le sigh. 
    My big boy is bounding towards 3! Hoping to add a sibling. image Hipster dog is not impressed.

    Sonoma or Napa is beautiful in the fall or what about going to the northeast to see the fall foilage or upstate NY around Finger Lakes?

    Napa /Sonoma. That is a perfect amount of time to go, grapes still on the vine and we have always been well under $2k. Keep in mind I get cheap hotels but still you can do it for that price.
