I hate to say I told you so buuuuuuuuut
Remember how a bunch of you told me I should go to the kid-themed FRG events, how it wouldn't be weird and how all the moms wanted adult conversation and wouldn't be talking about their kids?
Well, I went to one today. It was weird and all anyone talked about was their kids. Then on my way out I ran into another one of my ex-boyfriends in the parking lot.
I feel like my life is just one huge prolonged awkward moment.

Re: I hate to say I told you so buuuuuuuuut
there's a website called meetup dot com or something where you can find people who meet/hang out who have the same interests...like a spanish-speaking club, knitting group, etc. maybe you can find a WoW club nearby? there's bound to be some childfree members.
remind me again...you don't have children YET or don't plan to have them?
lol @ a WoW club. I have enough friends on WoW (though I play on a west coast server so it's not like the people I play with are local)
I don't have children YET and don't plan on having any for a few more years.

hey lady, don't laugh @ a WoW club. it's not to meet people to play with in your case, it's just to meet people in general who are probably like-minded and you'll have stuff in common with.
...or find a kitty cat club. haha.
rofl.
I can imagine a bunch of ladies covered in cat hair sitting together chatting about which litter is the best.
Crazy cat lady 4 lyf3.

FTW
The short answer would be: a lot.
Though this one was the dude I dated for a year and was with when I met H, then I proceeded to smash his heart into a thousand pieces.
Oh, to be a teenager again.

I never told you to hang with the breeders. I avoid spouse clubs for that reason. I gave it a sincere go, but after too many diaper cake meetings, I gave up. Once our meeting was about trying to get more people involved, and I gently brought up that events were always religious and child focused. My points were basically ignored. I'm not saying that children should never be involved, but if you're trying to incorporate more people, be mindful of diverse viewpoints.
I do use meetup (at least in the states) and have had pretty good luck. It's not great for long term friendships, but it's pretty great for finding something to do with likeminded people.
p.s. you are all missing the point of this post.
I will accept apologies (or booze) from those of you who told me this venture was a good idea.
I DEMAND REPARATIONS FOR THE AWKWARDNESS.

Also, I'm totally joining the "Majestic Divas Social Club" via meetup.com
Or maybe I'll LARP and play Dungeons and Dragons!

I know it's hard. For two years (which is really not that long, in retrospect), I was the increasingly bitter infertile. Not only was I looking for kid-free friends, but my demographics totally worked against me. Nearly all of the 35 year old women (my age at the time) had multiple elementary or middle school kids. I understand your frustration.
I will happily share some of my Blue Moon beer--it's the summer one! Now, since you have ruled out FRG activities for making friends, what is your next step, besides meet-up.com? Have you thought of taking a class for enrichment? Pottery? Photography? Cooking? Cake decorating?
I'd stick a picture of a beer bottle here, but I don't know how to do that!
PS. I wanted to thank you for mentioning the 16 & Pregnant Finale special last night. My DVR did not have it set to record, but thanks to you, I was able to record it. I just watched it. Thanks!!!
