4th of July

What are everyone's plans? Any yummy bbq ideas?

Allan and I are going to our hometown parade (probably the last we'll see for awhile) and then going to my parents' for a bbq. After that we'll probably head down to the beach down the street from our house to see fireworks.

Re: 4th of July

  • We don't have any plans yet.  I want to see fireworks, but still not sure where to go to see them.  I didn't like where we were last year; we couldn't see them very well.

  • I'm going to visit H this weekend since he's TDY(again). The actual night of the 4th I will probably hole up in the house with xanax, liquor, and my TV up loud and try to sleep.

*edited because it's past my bedtime and I can't type*

  • I think we might watch the Air Show down by the water during the day and then go see the Lt. Dan Band on post. We will probably go to a friends to watch the fireworks once it get's dark. Nothing too spectacular!
  • DH, DS and I will be in Boston on vacation. I can't wait to see the fireworks there, I hear it's amazing.

  • We'll be out at the beach all weekend but I have to make it home early on the 4th because we are going to visit family soon after that and I have to pack up for everyone.

  • On the 4th of July I'll be pretending I have plans so I don't have to go over to my ILs.

I like knowing I'm not the only one that does this!

  • We were suppose to go to the coast but we changed our minds. We are going to stay home and just relax and be the two of us. We might go to the fireworks but not sure where yet. I think we are going to BBQ on the 4th too.

  • Saturday, I'm going to the ice cream festival.  The proceeds benefit CHOP(Children's Hospital of Philadelphia).  They have it every 4th of July weekend.  It's a family tradition.  Plus, my bestie's daughter has been in and out of the hospital this year bc of a heart defect, so I'm feeling an even deeper desire to want to support them.

Sunday, we're going to a birthday party for my uncle, who's birthday is July 4th.

On the 4th, I may go to the parade and the Liberty Bell tapping ceremony.  It's supposed to be really hot so I might skip it.  We'll also bbq and watch the concert(given on the steps of the Art Museum every year) and fireworks on tv.  No one on the bill this year is motivating me to sit down there and watch.

  • Gonna hang out on post, there are demonstrations/activities all day, concerts at night, a fireworks show and most importantly other yellow ribbon spouses for me to hang out with!

Hope you all have a fun and safe 4th!

Thanks for asking.  She has Hyperplastic Left Heart Syndrome.  It's a birth defect where the chambers on the left side of her heart didn't form properly.  They were fortunate to catch it while bestie was still pregnant, so they started planning everything before DD was born.

She's hanging in there ok.  She needs something called a Norwood procedure to rewire her heart.  They did stage 1 when she was a few days old and stage II was done last year when she turned 1.  She'll have stage III when she's about 3 or 4, depending on how she grows.  Her latest issue has been gaining weight so she's going back and forth with the feeding tube being put in and taken out.  Plus, she's had little colds and viruses, like any other kid, but it's a bigger deal bc of her heart.

  • My sister and I are debating about heading to Dallas on Saturday to see Musiq SoulChild at the House of Blues. I think we're still going. Besides that, no major plans. All the fireworks shows in my hometown were scrapped due to a burn ban, so can't even set off anything [or BBQ outdoors unless we have propane grills]. Boo.

  • Friends are coming in town.  The guys will be golfing and the girls will be at the pool.  Grilling out a lot and then going to post to see the fun stuff planned there. The 4th is one of my favorite days...even more special since that is the day that H popped the question, so I like to think the fire works are for us...haa!!! Ok moving on for my sappiness!

  • i just found out that there is a minor league baseball game on the 2nd and H has that night off so we might go to that because they shoot off firewroks and it is military appreciations so it is buy one ticket get one free.  I might go to the fireworks in town on 4th but i will more than likely hang out at home.
  • I'm hoping to see some fireworks, and we will have people over on the 4th, but other than that I think it's going to be a low key holiday.  We're all gearing up for vacation, so we won't be getting too crazy this year.
    Shot first, questions later.
  • We're home on vacation so we're going to the Pirates game in the burgh with our dads.  We have really great seats (about 3 rows up from the 3rd baseline) so I'm super excited.  It's an afternoon game so we have a picnic to go to when we get back that evening.

We're having some friends over for a barbecue, and will probably let LittleL stay up to watch fireworks. I may end up taking him alone while H stays with the baby since H is still a bit skittish around loud noises.
