S/O Haircut

JaneGold's post got me thinking...how much do you spend on a trip to the salon and what all does it include?

I haven't gone to my stylist in almost a year because she's a 45 minute drive and money is tight right now.  It costs me $75 for a cut and 2 color foil, plus I usually tip $15-$25 depending on what the budget is.

I sooooo want to get my hair colored.  Praying for DH's business to continue to grow so I can enjoy that luxury again!

Re: S/O Haircut

  • for a cut and highlights for me Its between $60-$80. I only have highlights done about once a year during the summer. Otherwise I color it brown at home. I do always get a haircut every 6-8 weeks. I normally take Jordan with me and pay $25 dollars for both my cut and his. I know there are some more expensive places around, but I can't justify spending much more than that on highlights.

  • About $200 for cut and highlights. I tip about 20%, so I run close to $240 when all is said and done. It was major sticker shock when I moved from MI to D.C.--I paid about $90 for everything there, tip included.

I don't do the whole shebang often, though. Usually I just get a cut and finish, and that runs about $65 before tip.

  • Prices here are a little higher in general.  My usual cut costs ?65 (~$105) plus a ?10 tip, and I try to go every 2-3 months.  That includes wash (I LOVE the scalp massage at the end), cut, and blow dry.

  • The salon that I go to is a little high for the area, but I love my stylist so she is worth it to me. I pay about $135 for a cut and highlights. I generally tip about 20% bringing my total up closer to $165.
  • I've been going to the same stylist for 15 years.  She's wonderful and dirt cheap (at least for Chicago).  The price ranges from $40 for a wash, cut/style, and dry to $110 for 2 color highlight foil, wash, cut/style, and dry.  Before the salon had an aestetitian (sp?), she used to wax my brows for me for free too.  I almost always tip 20% plus $5 to the person washing my hair if it's different from my stylist.

  • Well, I posted below already but at my salon, a haircut, highlights (2 color usually), blowdry, and tip ends up coming out to about $300.  Sad

  • I usually end up paying about $250 for cut/style, full foil highlights, and all over color (cut = $40, highlights = $90, all over dye = $50, tip = $30). I only give myself this full treatment 3-4 times a year though.

I don't have my hair done every 6 weeks like most people, and right now I'm only doing cuts and highlights, and skipping the all over color I normally get. I've been seeing the same stylist for about 8 years and he's the only person I trust with my hair.

  • I am in desperate need of something. My hair is so boring. I typically spend about 30-40 dollars. I never get anything really fancy. I don't dye my hair. BIL just started dating a girl that is a stylist so I might see what she can do to my boring head.

  • I usually don't have my hair colored or highlighted at a salon. If I color, I do all over at home. My cuts are usually $30ish. I tip 20%. If I get a highlight or color at the salon, it's almost $200. I've done this twice I think in my lifetime. I've always had friends who did cosmetology stuff, so I went to them instead.

  • I pay about 85$ for the cut. I quit dying my hair about 3 years ago because I felt like my hair was falling out because of it.
  • I don't highlight or dye my hair at all.  I pay $30 (tip included) for wash, cut and style at my salon.  I'm not sure, but I think my stylist cuts me a break because I'm so boring and she's a family friend.  I probably go every 6-8 weeks.

  • I just get my hair cut (I don't get it colored or highlighted) and it costs me $45 including the tip.

I'm getting it cut today!  I still haven't decided if I want to just trim it and keep letting is grow out, keep it long and just re-style my bangs, or cut it all off...if I could PIP from my mom's computer I would get your advice.  But alas...
