Anyone been an adjunct professor?

Would you do  it again? Any advice is appreciated.

Re: Anyone been an adjunct professor?

  • I'd really like to be an adjunct professor to bring in some extra income but I haven't had any luck. I've had a couple of offers to teach intro to psych classes but they were always during the day which I can't do with work. I know several people who adjunct in addition to full time jobs and they like doing it.

  • I have a friend that adjunct in the evenings at the junior college and SAHMd during the day and she loved it.  She only had 3 classes and it was perfect for her.

  • My BIL is an adjunct, but it is his main job, not an extra part time thing. He would like to be permanent or full time or whatever it's called, but can't until he gets a masters. He likes it a lot. He started his teaching career in a middle school, so I think he really appreciates having students who are choosing to be there and are more mature (relatively haha).
  • I work in university administration and we have a few adjuncts every semester.  They make pretty good money and seem to enjoy themselves.  A lot of them have came back for multiple semesters, so I'm going to assume they like it!
