If you're following the Casey Anthony trial
Do you think the defense is going to put her on the stand today? If they're smart they'll keep her off, but I think they've kind of backed themselves into a corner with the drowning thing and they kind of have to put her on to give that any merit whatsoever. Also the defense's way of explaining the body/duct tape fell TOTALLY flat after Kronk's testimony.I hope the jury understands that circumstantial evidence is very much still evidence.Thoughts? Anyone else obsessed with this mess?
Re: If you're following the Casey Anthony trial
I don't think they'll put her on the stand...which is too bad because I would LOVE to see that.
I didn't see Kronk's testimony yesterday. I did hear that he was very matter of fact and believable in his testimony but didn't hear any details as to why he was such a good witness for the prosecution side of things. Can you elaborate on that?
I'm really hoping the jury convicts on the evidence, circumstantial or not. I watched a Dateline episode last week where the case was PURELY circumstantial. They had a manner of death (carbon monoxide poisoning) in this case, but the prosecution never proved how the defendant (the husband) did it. It was still enough for the jury to convict him for life. They spoke to a few members of the jury later and they admitted they still have no idea how he did it, but they believe their verdict is correct. Keeping my fingers crossed that this jury is as reasonable.
* As a fun aside, Dr. Spitz was a professional forensics witness for the defense in that case too.
From my understanding, the defense's whole theory about the duct tape was that Kronk put it there to sensationalize the case and collect the reward money who had his fingers in the case the whole time and moved the body around a bunch. After his testimony this week, he cearly came off as a concerned good Samaritan alerting authorities to something suspicious back in August and then seemed totally believable that he only moved the skull a smidge and only before he realized it was a skull.
So the defense still has no explanation for the duct tape. Also all of their testimony for the body being there only a short time (versus the six plus months it actually was) has no reason anymore since Kronk seemed so legit about not moving the body.
I can't believe all of the "experts" and witnesses who have gotten up on the stand and flat out lied. Like the woman on now. She goes by two names! Yes, very credible witness indeed. And the woman who said plants can grow through bone matter in two weeks. Isn't that perjury? What motive do these people have for lying under oath to protect Casey?
The fame of being witnesses in this internationally viewed case. And the thought that as long as they have even some flimsy reason for saying what they did the state won't go after them for perjury. The state doesn't even know yet if they're going to go after Cindy for perjury let alone these other people.
I've had it on the TV everyday, but usually during the lunch break I get bored and change it. I'm just having a hard time taking it all in. It's mind numbing to think about how they are spinning this. DH and I have discussions about it every few days, but he's usually behind because he can't watch while at work. So I have to fill him in and then he understands why I think/ fell the way I do.
* Sorry if I don't make sense, I have a hard time with words.
Do you want to share some of that here?
OMFG. River/Krystal on the stand now (George's alleged mistress and a convicted felon) just said that she gave an interview to the National Enquirer (for which she was paid $4k) "because she was worried other media would heavily edit her story and make her look like 'trash.'"
I hope the jury realizes what a freaking joke this "testimony" is. Zero credibility.
Did you guys see the grief counselor witness yesterday? She basically said Casey's actions after the "accident" could be grief... but more likely was guilt. Another defense witness FAIL.
