What are everyone's plans? Any yummy bbq ideas?
Allan and I are going to our hometown parade (probably the last we'll see for awhile) and then going to my parents' for a bbq. After that we'll probably head down to the beach down the street from our house to see fireworks.

Re: 4th of July
I'm going to visit H this weekend since he's TDY(again). The actual night of the 4th I will probably hole up in the house with xanax, liquor, and my TV up loud and try to sleep.

lol, I've done this with my future ILs
I love Boston! I'd love to see what it looks like with fireworks
I like knowing I'm not the only one that does this!
Saturday, I'm going to the ice cream festival. The proceeds benefit CHOP(Children's Hospital of Philadelphia). They have it every 4th of July weekend. It's a family tradition. Plus, my bestie's daughter has been in and out of the hospital this year bc of a heart defect, so I'm feeling an even deeper desire to want to support them.
Sunday, we're going to a birthday party for my uncle, who's birthday is July 4th.
On the 4th, I may go to the parade and the Liberty Bell tapping ceremony. It's supposed to be really hot so I might skip it. We'll also bbq and watch the concert(given on the steps of the Art Museum every year) and fireworks on tv. No one on the bill this year is motivating me to sit down there and watch.
Gonna hang out on post, there are demonstrations/activities all day, concerts at night, a fireworks show and most importantly other yellow ribbon spouses for me to hang out with!
Hope you all have a fun and safe 4th!
this sounds like a whole lot of fun!
and I hope your friend's daughter is doing alright!
Thanks for asking. She has Hyperplastic Left Heart Syndrome. It's a birth defect where the chambers on the left side of her heart didn't form properly. They were fortunate to catch it while bestie was still pregnant, so they started planning everything before DD was born.
She's hanging in there ok. She needs something called a Norwood procedure to rewire her heart. They did stage 1 when she was a few days old and stage II was done last year when she turned 1. She'll have stage III when she's about 3 or 4, depending on how she grows. Her latest issue has been gaining weight so she's going back and forth with the feeding tube being put in and taken out. Plus, she's had little colds and viruses, like any other kid, but it's a bigger deal bc of her heart.
Friends are coming in town. The guys will be golfing and the girls will be at the pool. Grilling out a lot and then going to post to see the fun stuff planned there. The 4th is one of my favorite days...even more special since that is the day that H popped the question, so I like to think the fire works are for us...haa!!! Ok moving on for my sappiness!
