My dog is driving me batty

I have the morning off and have been trying to just relax and veg because E said not to worry about the house today and all Simon can do is sit in the sun by the slider and bark at the neighbor who is trying to put the window covers on his RV. I swear I love him to bits but he is being a butt head today. Not to mention the fact that he dove off the bed at 5:30am.

Re: My dog is driving me batty

  • I can totally relate to you!  I mean on weekdays getting the two dogs up to go outside and use the bathroom is like pulling teeth...on Saturday or Sunday or holiday they are up at the butt crack of dawn!!! I mean I love my fur babies but sometimes.
  • My mutt just realized that the outside has a world full of exciting things for her to view from the door while she is stuck inside.  She constantly is sitting by the back window whining or barking or jumping at something she sees outside.  Maybe just pick him up and make him snuggle with you?  That is what I do with mine when she isn't letting me sleep.  Or take him for a walk and wear him out so he'll sleep with you naturally.
  • I hated the vertical blinds on our sliding glass doors at our last few houses.  My dogs had a habit of pushing them to the side so they could watch the birds and the flimsy holes at the top that clipped into the plastic hangers would break.

When my guys bark, we close the blinds, but that's tougher with the sliding glass door.  Can you put tinted film on the glass to block his view?  When all else fails, I give my dogs frozen Kongs and redirect them.

    Twin boys due 7/25/12
