really just frustrated

So H is at Basic training and is being told by his Battalion Commander that graduation is being moved up a week early, some people have gotten packets saying that that is true, but we are still being told that it's just rumors. and on top of it apparently a couple of SITs got caught having sexual relations. Is it just me or is this all really ridiculous?

Re: really just frustrated

  • Sorry don't mean to vent just really sick and tired of all the nobody really knows what's going on crap.

  • What's an SIT, and why were they knocking boots?

I'd write YH and ask for clarification on graduation. Those dates can change for him if he gets hurt/sick/whatever too, so be careful about making super solid plans.

I've seen a lot of military surprise homecomings. It wouldn't work on me. I always have my back to the corner and my face to the door. Looking for terrorists, criminals, various other threats, and husbands.
  • Sorry things are stressful right now. I wish I could tell you it gets better, but often it really doesn't. Welcome to a life living in near-constant limbo. :/  Can your H find out a more concrete date for graduation?

I hate to say it, but this kind of uncertainty/no one knows what's goin on is pretty typical for the military. I hope you get real clarification soon!

  • Ha. Welcome to the military! Get used to never knowing what's going on. Our graduation date changed at least 3 times, so just hang on for the ride.

Stan - SIT is Soldier in Training

And yes, it's possible they were knocking boots. We had it happend when I was in BCT. Idiots.

  • Yeah We've tried clarifying the date nobody knows. H is being told by the battalion commander that they are graduating a week early, but the moderator on the battalions page just keeps squashing it and says it's just a rumor. So I'm waiting for the packet that says HELLO this is the date,    And I made sure to make reservations at a hotel that I could change them without paying extra money.

Luckily H's company isn't having any issues. But he has a lot of older guys in his company. I think a lot of the issues are stemming from the people who are 17 and still in high school.

These stories always baffle me b/c I feel like trainees are super tired, super supervised, trying to stay out of trouble, and unclean (hairy legs, 30 second showers, etc.) that sex should be the last thing on their minds!

Not to mention the BCGs LOL!

I don't want to be on MSNBC, yo.

I know! I barely had time to write home, let alone even think about sneaking into the other barracks to have relations with some smelly boy. People need to get their priorities straight. I wish they'd kick those douches out. If you can't go 9 weeks without sex, you don't belong in the military.

  • I agree.  I watched one of my DSs get hauled off in handcuffs because he was having sex with 2 different Privates.  One found out about the other, got jealous because she thought they were in a relationship then went straight to the CO.  That was a fun week.

Ahh the joys of having minors in BCT.

  • wow that sounds like it was super fun lol. and I really don't understand the split option where their still in high school, but their parents sign off on them going to Basic before they even graduate high school. H said they don't know when to shut up and always try to get the last word in with the DS' And their moms do nothing about talk about how their babies have never been away from home before. really really annoying

  • When DH was at AIT, he was on CQ.  The duty sgt.'s wife came to bring him dinner and caught him with one of the students bent over his desk.  He had to restrain her and got elbowed in the mouth, but now he looks back on it and laughs hysterically.

To be fair, it's not only the 17 y/o kids who've never been away from home that get in trouble. I had a 32 y/o female in my company who thought she shouldn't have to listen to a DS who was younger than she was. It's more about someone's personality than their age. And FTR, I was one of those 17 y/o girls who had never been away from home and my mommy signed my consent form.  She did it because she trusted my judgement and decision, I had researched and talked about being enlisted since I was a kid.  But I had already graduated HS and didn't get in trouble at BCT.

I was thinking the same thing BLT.  A friend of our family was 31 when he was at basic and was booted out for failure to adapt.  He was in a bunch of fights, gave the DS lip, etc. etc.

The ladies I referenced were 21 and 23.  They weren't fresh off mom's teet.
