Can we agree, that regardless of his politics Congressman-elect Martin Heinrich is a DARN good looking man?
"We tend to be patronizing about the poor in a very specific sense, which is that we tend to think,
Re: Elena!
Oh Mxolisi! You are killing me right now. Though you can't know how it breaks my heart, that is a somewhat sensitive race for me
Heiney's former opponent is such a good guy. I just can't concede, even that he might be semi-attractive. Some things are sacred!
But on that note, can you believe what an absolute ass beating my people took in New Mexico? It was heinous!
Trust me, I understand. That race has been my husband's personal albatross from the past 10 years, if for slightly different reasons
You guys were beat good, it's partially Pierce's fault, he ought to have let Wilson run for the Senate seat, she'd have had a much better shot IMO. The northern district was a lost cause, the ABQ district has always been close, and the southern district will likely turn back to the R's someday soon (unless all of those retirees in Cruces change the balance).
Anyhow, my husband is as concerned as you, although for different reasons. Because Bingaman and Richardson are both expected to be chosen for the Obama cabinet/administration every single major elected position in the state of NM, including all members of Congress will be freshmen in their positions...which isn't good for the state when it comes to clout in Washington.
I have a feeling you and I could talk New Mexico politics for hours in real life. I am sure we would have a few mutual friends.
I agree that Pearce's run took a toll. If for no other reason than I believe he could have held on to that seat in southern New Mexico. But I don't think any of them could have beat Udall. I'm not even convinced that Heather could have held on to CD1. Hell, one of my good friends was defeated for her state house seat in a pretty conservative district. I don't know if it's just the dissatisfaction with Bush, but the GOP has got a lot of work to do in order to win races again. That and the Obama wave wiped everybody out.
I hope we gain back at least a couple of those seats. I think it was a pretty good mix before. I hope things work out well for you husband. Sounds like it will be an adjustment. I unfortunately know a lot of people who will be displaced altogether. But I guess that's the name of the game eh?
