How would you wear your hair to a memorial service on the beach? Ponytail is the last option on my list.

Ditto. They take some getting the hang of (I'm still learning), but look really pretty.

I would use my spin pins to do a low side bun (if your hair is long enough.) It keeps it up and off of your back if it's hot out, but looks more put together than a pony tail. I just did this for a wedding. (I'm on the right.) You can kind of see the bun on the side here.

threadjack -- how expensive are spin pins? I'm 99.9% certain they won't work for me, but I want to try them.

Expensive enough that I'd borrow them from someone else to see if they work first. I was surprised by how much they cost. I bought mine last minute at a CVS and they were around $7 for two pins. You can borrow mine if you want.

ETA: Or if you want you can just play with them at book club.
