hybrid nest/bump post - mystery pee smell

Help!  We switched DD to a toddler bed last week.  A few nights she got really mad and took her pull up off.  I put it back on within an hour normally.  Yesterday, I noticed a pee smell in her room, but she hasn't taken the pull up off (to my knowledge) in a few days.  I assume she peed somewhere on the carpet, but I can't find it and now its stinking.  How can I find it and how can I clean it?

It also kinda smells like an old wet diaper, but there are no diapers sitting out.

  • Can't you use a blacklight to find pee? Or am I making that up?

  • Blacklight to find it?

And then I'd try the dog pee stuff...the name of whcih I cannot recall at the moment...to get the smell out.  And then follow up with some baking soda. (sprinkle, let sit, vacuum up)

I think it is 'Doo Doo Voo Doo' ... At least that's the one I have heard of. I'm sure there are others...

  • can I get a blacklight at Home Depot/Lowe's?

  • Bac Out should also help with the smell.

Did she pee in her comforter or pillow?  Aiden wet his bed once and while we changed the sheets, we didn't realize that his pillow had also gotten wet.

Also, if she has a lovey that could be the culprit.

  • I was also going to consider a blacklight. I know that it works to find pet pee but i wasnt sure about a human. I suppose it would though. I just had an accident with my cat in the car. Someone told me to put a bowl of vinegar and it would "soak up" the smell. I am not sure if it actually works as i haven't tried. i used the Nature's miracle instead. But you could try it.

  • I also agree with the Nature's Miracle and the blacklight. Nature's Miracle can be found at Target, Walmart, petco, petsmart, etc.

I'm not sure that vinegar would make a long-term difference here. Vinegar works for smells in the air, but if she peed on something like the carpet, it will continue to smell unless you can get it out of the carpet. But, vinegar is a good solution for getting the stink out of air, like if you cooked fish or Indian food. :)

Good to know. I will keep that one in the back of my mind for sure! I never knew about the vinegar thing.
