Places to shop with a good variety of sunglasses

My hubby and I are in the market for some new sunglasses. We are looking for some higher quality brands with polarized lenses. Any suggestions on where we could shop with a good selection to try on? Shopping online for glasses/sunglasses just doesn't work well.

Re: Places to shop with a good variety of sunglasses

  • Depends on how much you are looking to spend.

Target has some polarized and those will probably run $20-$30 or so.  I would find a Sunglasses Hut...they will be able to help you fit to your face shape, too.  Last time I went sunglasses shopping I just went down to the MOA, since they have about 12 sunglasses stores.

  • Oh...definitely not target sunglasses. I have been eying up some Oakley's or Maui Jim's. I break every pair of cheap sunglasses I own. I've had a pair of Nautica's for about 5 years that have held up well and I still use but I want something a little different. My husband has some Ray Ban's that he likes.  I also  have very sensitive eyes so the cheap ones don't really do it for me. I suppose heading to MOA would be a good idea although it's not my most favorite place to go.

  • I agree on spending some money.  I have had a pair of Smith glasses for 3 years, and I find I don't loose my expensive glasses.

I haven't found much for the women's selection at the Oakley store, but maybe it's more your style then mine.  There are a couple places with some beautiful Ray Bans there, though.

  • Nordstrom Rack has a decent selection of nicer sunglasses usually. Especially for women.
  • I have a coupon for $20 off any purchase from Sunglass Hut and $50 off a $200 purchase.  I can send you the coupons if you want.

I recently got a pair of sunglasses for $70 at the Coach Outlet in Albertville, and my husband got a pair of prescription Oakley sunglasses from the Spectacle Shoppe if you're looking for other ideas on places to look.

  • REI usually has a pretty good selection. I typically find what I like and then see if I can find cheaper online or at The House.
  • Now many websites offer an awesome try on feature which is like a virtual dressing room for glasses. I bought my transitions and polarized sunglasses from Zenni, the excellent online glasses vendor. I choose the memory titanium frames and I?m very impressed of their durability. And they just fit my vision perfectly. You may have a try if you like.
