Mommacitas-- registry question
The crib I really want is not availibe on BRU or Target, but I can find it on Amazon (for a cheaper price too).
Anyone register on Amazon? Did people purchse from there? I am afraid people will be turned away from it because they cannot physcially pick it up at a store.

Re: Mommacitas-- registry question
To be completely honest, I have no idea. I know I bought the crib for both of my brothers, but I can't say for sure "Oh one of my brothers will purchase it", you know? I know my mom is probably going to get us the travel system, I don't know about my ILs.
We are not in any kind of place to purchse furniture on our own--I really wish we could, but since this came as such a surprise to us, we have had to put our money into just getting the house ready for the baby. Plus we have to pay for a lot of our healthcare, so that has taken a good chunk out of our savings as well.
Maybe I'll put the crib on one of the registries but tell my Mom and MIL that if anyone asks about it that they should be directed to the Amazon site.... does that sound like a happy medium?
That sounds like a good idea to me.
BRU allows you to type a message right on your registry. I put a note on there that if you purchase something from the registry from another store email my mom and she can take it off the registry and I put her email address on there.
We did this for my friend's wedding shower and people emailed me and I had the password to manage her registry.
I put it on mine hoping we wouldn't get a ton of duplicate gifts bought from other stores. It worked out well.
We were fortunate that my IL's wanted to buy the crib. I found it on BRU.com and they just gave us their CC.
However, the crib mattress I wanted was like $175 and it wasn't available anywhere but for online. I ended up just using the cash that I got from people at my shower. I got a ton of gc's and $$ and it took a lot of planning but I ended up not having to pay for it out of pocket at all.
Hopefully you'll get some people that will just give you cash or write a check!
we registered on amazon. i love it.
while we're talking about it, check out amazon mom as well. anything i can subscribe to, i do. even if it's just a one time purchase, and then i cancel it
We registered at Amazon.co.uk for our wedding because Americans and Brits could both buy off the site and they would ship to our (IL) house.
Americans DID buy stuff and they were happy that things were shipped to us and we didn't have to worry about taking things back on the plane. We did this for electronics and larger items.
It actually went over quite well, although I know it's a totally different situation.
Anyway, I think just do it or wishpot perhaps.
