I'm here. We're all alive. It's hot. Jet lag sucks. Hope you all are doing well!
Re: Greetings from Saudi Arabia
Great to hear you and your family are safe and sound.
Famous Filipino hang out there is this area called Batha.
Here's a helpful website to familiarize yourself in Saudi Arabia, Riyadh.

I hope you enjoy your stay there as much as I did when I was a little girl : )
Thanks for the info, Junie!
The time difference here is seven hours. So, it's 10 pm here right now.
I think one of the most surprising things here so far has been how much like America it is here in some ways. Like America in abayat (the robes the women wear). We went grocery shopping and were able to buy Safeway brand organic mac and cheese. We went to a mall yesterday and they have stores like Aldo and GAP. Oh, and it was pretty funny on the flight in watching the men rush to get their last beer before landing and seeing the women put on their abayat before getting off of the plane.
I think the tone of my initial post probably sounds negative, but we actually really like it here so far. It's going to take some getting used to, but we're excited about trying out some of the great restaurants here and seeing more of the city. We're just a little terrified of trying to drive when our car finally arrives because driving here is insane! DH already witnessed his first three car accident and everyone here has stories of seeing multiple crashes in a single outing. It's nice being shuttled by the embassy motorpool drivers. I feel safer in a huge armored SUV!

YAY! Glad to hear from and to hear that things are going pretty good. (And y'know, it's OK to be negative from time to time. It's a pretty huge adjustment, and I highly doubt it's all puppies and rainbows all the time.)
Can't wait to hear more about your experiences; thanks for sharing. :-)
My silly Lily is almost 4.
You are welcome : )
here's a post on that blog talking about a nice restaurant you and your family can check out :
