Re: Did anyone seen this?!
I saw that yesterday. I don't understand how that could happen. Something, or a lot of things, went very wrong for that to go down. There had to be a number of people not doing their jobs for that to happen.
This was my greatest fear when I worked at Miller Park. We knew kids came in to swim all the time at night, and the first thing I did when I came to open the pool was check the slide well. : /
Doesn't a pool usually get cleaned at night? or in the morning?
We would vacuum the pool before opening, but only if it needed it. Ideally, if there aren't a lot of leaves, and your chemicals are balanced, the pool *should* be pretty self-sufficient.
I just don't know how the lady wasn't seen. Water clarity could have played a part, but if you can't see the bottom, you shouldn't be open. Also, it can be hard to see right under the slide because of the running water, but we knew that, so you made sure everyone always came up. We also turned the slides off at night and rest breaks, so you were able to see the bottom clearly then.
thanks to jennied
It said that she was with the kid and his/her parents. They left but didnt look for her I guess...thats just weird imo. wouldnt you want to know where someone is especially if they rode with you?

I'm not picturing how this could happen. It was a grown woman in a 12 ft pool. I grew up practically living at a pool that was 9ft and you could ALWAYS see the drain at the bottom. You jumped off the diving board, went down to touch the drain, turned, then pushed off the bottom to swim to the surface. We did that all day long. Did nobody swim by and say, "umm... that lady hasn't come up in a while." So are they saying that she may have gone down the slide and that the water coming down the slide kept her body under and even hid the fact that she was there??
How awful! And that boy that she took, he went home and said, "I don't know where she is" and that was the end of it? Something is horribly wrong.
Im glad that its under investigation because there is NO way that should have happened. Knowing that she didn't come home and if the boy said something they should have acted on it bettter. Absoultely uncalled for.
I feel dirty just reading this... imagine if you were swimming there while that happened.
It is a sad story and there are some things that don't make sense.
