Hi Boston nesties! DH and I are taking a vacation to Boston. We arrive on the 4th and I would really love to see some fireworks. Where is the best place to do this?
Also, I'm sure you get his question all the time but do you have any restaurant recs?
Thanks!

Re: Boston 4th of July
I recommend the Cambridge side of the river to watch the Boston fireworks. We watched them on Memorial Drive one year, and it was much less crowded than the Boston side. There were speakers set up the year we went, so you could hear the concert as well. You can get there from the Kendall/MIT stop on the red line.
Just know that wherever you watch, it's going to take forEVER to get out of there. Have fun!
ead gave good advice about where to see the Fireworks. The Esplanade/Hatch Shell is where the Boston Pops play and there's nothing quite like watching the fireworks with an orchestra accompanying them, but nowadays it gets waaaaay too crowded and to actually sit in front of the Hatch Shell you'd have to get there super early and spend all day waiting.
As for restaurants, look back a few pages to see if you can find some old posts on the topic. There have been some great, lengthy suggestions in the past. Here are some of my comments:
Normal 0
Splurge
I do not like Top of the Hub, Fugakyu, or Fire & Ice.No. 9 Park (Boston)
O Ya Sushi (Boston)
Salts (Cambridge)
Blue Ginger (Wellesley)
Stella in the South End is great for brunch--large portions and reasonable prices (also you can walk over to the SOWA Open Market from there).
In Chinatown, East Ocean City is great for dinner and Hong Kong Eatery is wonderful for Chinese comfort food (their wonton noodle soup is awesome). Also check out the bakeries in Chinatown; I recommend Ho Yuen or Hing Shing, though the best egg tarts are at Crown Royal.
For chowder, go to Legal Seafoods but the rest of the food there is nothing special.
I will add a few to this...
Splurge:
Hamersley's Bistro South End
Troquet, Theater District
Average price point:
Gallows, South End, Fun gastro-pub, kind of a hipster crowd, good flat top burgers and yummy Scotch Egg (SO and I eat here about once a week)
Stella, South End, neighborhood feel, modern Italian. Love it!
Franklin Cafe, South End,
Petit Robert... any of their three locations... the giant profiterole is TDF!
Flour Bakery, Sticky Buns!
I don't like American Joe's Bar And Grill or Max Brenner Chocolate. Cheap quality...
