Birthday gift help

Does anyone have any ideas what to get a 6 yo girl for her birthday?  Mom said she is not really into Barbies anymore.  She already has a scooter and a Barbie jeep.  Prefferably in the under $50 range since it's from all of DH's sibblings.

Re: Birthday gift help

  • I like getting summery stuff for summer birthdays. Either some kind of in the back water toy (not necessarily a slip and slide but they have a lot of fun stuff now). Bubbles, sidewalk chalk?

Does she like dressing up? Maybe a little manicure set or something like that. Most moms might not be too keen on makeup but nails might be ok.

Arts and Crafts kits and activity kits like that are good gifts, and vary widly in price.

    HTH! Good luck!

  • I really liked crafty things when I was little - you could get her a painting kit or something kid-friendly at Michaels :)

I also like the idea of outdoors stuff

  • Well, my niece wanted a certain movie really bad, so I got her a big movie themed gift set. I got a HUGE popcorn bowl, and then two plastic old-fashioned popcorn containers (for $1 each at Target), popcorn, movie, and a princess crown.

  • When SD was that age she LOVED Webkinz. They're about $15 each so you could get one or 2 & maybe an outfit.

You could also get her a cute (cheap) ladies purse (hot pink, purple &/or sequins) & fill it with pretend make up, a wallet with $5, hair bows, & other fun, girlie stuff.

A Bop-it game. SD loves hers & she can ply it on her own or with friends.

A membership to Club Penguin ($30 for 6 mos or maybe that's for a year...). It's a Disney website that is safe & fun for kids to play on.

  • I don't have anything to add.  I just like Breanne's suggestion about some type of water toy to play in!

  • I'm a little late to this party, but you know American Girl?  They make the dolls and clothes, which are expensive, but they also have cool arts-and-craftsy gifts that you can buy.  I've seen them at like Barnes and Noble I think.  Like a friendship bracelet kit, or something along those lines, would be cool for a girl her age.  Just my two cents.
  • Thanks ladies.  I never even thought about getting her some type of craft item.  Her mom does a lot of that type of stuff with her.  Maybe I will run to Michaels this weekend and look around.

Her mom said a gift card, but I don't want to get a 6-yo just a gift card.
