S/O thumb sucking- security blankets?

I never had any animal or blanket that I was attached too, but I had friends who did. I remember one friend bringing the most ridiculous threadbare blanket to sleepovers and us all laughing at it, but it not being something she was really embarrassed of- if that makes sense?

One of my college friends had a pillow and a little silky edge of a blanket that she still slept with through college- both items had names.  At a certain point she gave up on the pillow, but she definitely had the little piece of the blanket with her on her wedding day...

  • I had a monkey that I used to carry around by its tail while I sucked my thumb - all in the same hand.  The monkey was left outside at some point and a neighborhood dog attacked it.  I still have the monkey in a ziploc with a note my Mom wrote detailing his demise.

I'm thrilled that Mia doesn't have a lovey, though.  She had a pacifier and yeah, we had to go through taking that away from her, but it honestly wasn't that big of a deal.  I had it built up in my head as this monstrous task and it was easy.  She has a pile of stuffed animals in her room that occasionally end up in her bed, but that's more likely due to her playing before bed - she doesn't really cuddle them.

  • I had an elephant, - HJ. While I took him places and slept with him, I don't ever remember having to take him to sleepovers - at least not when I got older.

  • I had a pillow case lol.

I had had one of those Cabbage Patch pillows that I dragged everywhere, and then the stuffing all came out so my parents put the stuffing in another pillowcase with a big cat flying across it with a cape.  When the stuffing fell out of there I still carried it around with me. It ended up in strips and I still had it.  My brother hid it from me....maybe 5th grade? thereabouts? and that was the end of that.

Until my mom found it and gave it to me one year for Christmas in a frame. LOL.

  • I had a crocheted "blankie" that I slept with until middle school. I would rub my fingers on the fabric with my right hand while sucking on my left thumb. I'm pretty sure I still have it, just packed away somewhere.

  • I didnt have a blanket but I did have a Piglet from Classic Winnie the Pooh. I still have him. He is in the second bedroom and will be part of the nursery decor.

He looks something like this, only he is an older version since I got him in approximately 1985 and he is definitely worn from love:

  • I had this hand made blanket with about 25 holes in it till I was about 8. I think it got tossed in the trash after a picnic at a friends house :(

Paige carries around Woody (toy story) right now... I really hope this wears off soon. He's not SMALL.

  • I always had a blankie.  I don't have the same blankie now, I would get new ones but I still sleep with one because I need something in my arms to hold to make a comfortable position.  I didn't take it everywhere with me like Linus though.

  • I don't remember having a blanket - I had a bunch of stuffed bunnies that I loved, but they all stayed in my room.  I still have them.  I keep saying I'm going to give them to my niece or something, but nope.  they're mine.   They just live in a bin in storage though, it's not like I bring them to bed, I just can't bring myself to get rid of them.

This was me totally! I took it with us on vacation. I ended up leaving it in the hotel room and my dad had to call the hotel and have them look for it and hold it for us! We stopped on the way back home and picked it up! I also left it at my aunt in PA once and she had to mail it back to me! I took it with me to the hospital when i had my daughter. My mom thought i was going to hand it down to her. NOPE! It was my safety item from home. I love that thing! It has some holes in it now from wear and tear but i dont think i could ever get rid of it. I would just feel totally lost. I will probably be buried with the thing!

  • I had a blankie for quite some time.  I think my parents convinced me to throw it away when I was 7, and at that point it was threadbare.

  • I had a blankie for a long time.  I didn't use it, but I still had it around well into junior high/high school.  It had so many holes in it, I used to wrap myself in like it was some kind of fancy dress.  (don't ask)

I lost track of it after high school, but I bet its still in my closet at my parents house.

  • I had a blanket that was actually a fitted crib sheet. I don't remember what happened to it or how old I was when it disappeared (maybe 6 or 7?) but by that time it was frayed and faded and nasty looking, but I loved it...I loved that since it was a fitted sheet I could wrap it around me and one of the corners could be a hood like Little Red Riding Hood. lol.
