Were you able to get a good, tight fit with it RF? My sister bought 2 for the twins and we tried and tried for about an hour to get them tight in her Escape and no matter what we did (rolled towel, etc) they were not tight! They aren't supposed to be tethered RF or that would have fixed the problem i think
When you get them in as tight as possible, the back of the seat still has tons of room to move side to side and we did not feel comfortable with that (especially considering that both of my Britax seats DO NOT MOVE an inch when installed, anywhere on the seat!). Unfortunately because we couldn't get them installed tightly, they are FF because they can install tight that way. I also had her come over to my house and SCB came down to try for another 45 mins or so and she was just as baffled.
I don't think i would recommend this seat because of this but i'm wondering if any of you girls had this problem or if your seat is installed do you have it tight enough that putting your hand on the top side of the seat and pushing it, it doesn't move more than an inch?
Re: girls with MyRide65's
The only other thing that I can think of is trying to stand behind it (while pressing it into the seat) and pulling the latch. However, I don't think that I could fit between the back of the car seat and the back of the seats of your sister's car.
I am still so bummed about that.
Yeah, the forward facing install was a breeze, and it is SUPER tight. The rear-facing install was nearly impossible. The seat didn't more more than an inch at the base, but the top of the seat was ridiculously loose. I know that the base is what matters most, but seriously, if she had been in an accident, it would have been BAD.
What did she do? Did she use a noodle or anything?
I seriously could not get that thing tight.
Did I say this? I don't recall that being in my post, but I do know that we had such a hard time installing it rear-facing that I don't think it was safe. Not that the seat itself isn't safe (when installed correctly) just that we didn't feel it was safe in this particular situation.
That is exactly the technique that a tech told me to try, but there is no way in hell that I would have been able to fit between the back of the driver/passenger seat and the back of the car seat in this Escape.
Robyn, I love you, but if you were near me I'd *** slap you right now.
I can see that, princess! Nobody said she was going to die, they said they didnt feel like it was safe to install in their car because it wouldnt install properly. Relax, go take a benadryl or something!
