In his latest email, H expressed interest in me sending him some new boots (whatever ones that go with the NWUs).

I'm wondering, is there a way I can order them and have them shipped directly to the FPO, instead of buying them and sending them myself (since I'm not sure if they would fit into the flat rate box)?

And also, do you know if I have to buy the specific boots carried at the NEX, or are there just certain requirements that they have to meet?

I replied, asking my H this but I have no clue when he'll get back to me and I'd like to send them soon.

The boots have to meet the criteria in their clothing reg. My BX only carries two styles of boots, one of which is the basic issue style, then a steel toe version. I buy mine online. If you buy through NEX online, you shouldn't have a problem shipping to his APO address. Definitely ask him to send you a specific description of what he wants and make sure you know what size his current boots are. I would fail miserably at guessing that stuff for Joe...the last pair of shoes I bought him was donated to a friend because the size was a little off.

Ditto everything Ojo said. I bought DH a pair while he was deployed and didn't have any issues going through the PX online.

Yep, what Ojo said. I will say that C is issued all sorts of boots, and so far his favorites have been by Oakley. Oakley does ship to APO if you call them (and has a mil discount!) and we have ordered from them before. We have an APO address since we're overseas. Hope that helps! If you ever have any questions about companies who ship directly to APO, feel free to ask. I've learned a lot in two years overseas.

Does he have a U.S. Standard Issue account? Oakley boots are the only ones DH will wear and they're way cheaper through standard issue than regular Oakley.

I honestly have no idea! I'll have to check on that. I'll freely admit that he tends to go overboard on the Oakley website. He's a bit of a sunglasses junkie.

Oh snap! I didn't even know the NEX had a website lol. This makes things way easier since there are only 2 different black work boots on there. And it looks like I can send them directly to a FPO.
