Bridemaid

I am a bridesmaid in a wedding for a bride who is having 3 wedding showers. Am I supposed to take a gift to every shower?

Re: Bridemaid

  • Find something very inexpensive -- creativity rules -- and give that as a gift.

My favorite for-cheap shower gift: get a rolling pin and 20 one dollar bills -- take the dollar bills and tape them together widthwise; then tape the end of the row of dollar bills to the rolling pin.

Roll up; tie with a festive ribbon.

  • I personally would talk to the other bridesmaids and split up who goes to what shower so you only have to attend one. If you want to go to all three, then I like the pp's suggestion----a recipe book with pockets and some potholders at one, a bunch of index cards with your favorite recipes handwritten on them at another with her kitchen towels, and some kind of more expensive kitchen gadget at the third.
  • No, you don't need to take a gift to every shower. Trust me, no one is going to be keeping track if you do or dont.

  • When I was a bridesmaid and a MOH, the shower was most of my gift. I also got a smaller gift - such as a personalized frame. You do not have to give a gift for each shower.

I went to a shower where this was given to the bride and it went right over her head.  You could tell she thought it was really weird to tape money to a rolling pin.  Don't forget to add a note that you are giving the bride some "dough" to go with the baking gear.
