choc chip cookies

I made them today with mostly margarine and 1/2 stick of butter because I ran out, I really didnt see nor taste a difference.

Just thought I'd share!

Re: choc chip cookies

  • We made these for our family reunion yesterday-they were a HUGE hit! We came home with none :(
  • Can someone help me with a link to the recipe?  My hubby leaves for Canada next weekend, and I always make something for their long road trip.  These may be just perfect!

Thanks so much!  I'm not much of a kitchen lady, so I tend to overlook recipe posts -- haha -- and then, of course, when I do need them, I can't find them.

    Happy 4th!!

  • I'll c/p - enjoy!

    Ingredients:

    • 1/2 c butter (1 stick)
    • 1/4 c marg (1/2 stick)
    • 1 cup packed brown sugar
    • 1/2 c white sugar
    • 1tbsp vanilla
    • 1 egg
    • 1 egg yolk (the yellow part)
    • 1/2 tsp salt
    • 1/2 tsp baking soda
    • 2 1/4 c flour
    • 2 cups mix ins - choc chips, whatever

    Directions - preheat 325

    1. put the butter and marg in a bowl, microwave until its about halfway melted
    2. add the brown sugar - start beating and creaming it
    3. add the white sugar - beat
    4. add the vanilla - beat
    5. add the egg and egg yolk - beat - now, at this point, your mix should be light brown dna creamy
    6. add in the salt and soda - beat
    7. add in the flour all at once - beat
    8. add the mix ins

scoop by big scoopfulls onto cookie sheet, bake 325 for 12-15 minutes. I have a disgusting black cookie sheet that has been around since Jesus baked cookies, and its awesome.

    Enjoy!

  • Agree, I've made them with half butter/half margarine and they were still amazing. The all-marg batch... not so much. Batter was too funny & spread out to almost make bars vs. cookies.

Tiff - what did you sub for oatmeal raisin? 2c oats for 1c flour?

  • My aunt IL made choc chip cookies this weekend, and while they were excellent, they weren't quite as good.  Nothing will measure up to the TIff cookies!

  • I made them Sunday for DH's work and the Great American Bake Sale.

I want to try them with cocoa and chocolate chips next.  Any ideas on what ratios to use?  Would I need to add melted chocolate to get them really chocolatey?
