I hate everything about it...the dirt under my fingernails, the sweat, the bugs...I don't even particulary care for how everything looks when it is done.
But I was a good girl today and did all the weeding and planted annuals in our window box, a few in the front garden, and a few in the back garden boxes that Ed built two years ago along the deck.
Between that, a short run, some strength training, and the heat and humidity, I sweat 90% of today. So I figured I earned ice cream for dessert.
The only part of the garden I am excited about are the two basil plants I planted in the pots in front of our steps. I think I would do better with a vegetable garden--I like it when things are useful. But tomatoes and cucumbers in front of the house would look ridiculous.

I love my basil plants. They make impromptu bruschetta easy.
I too hate gardening. I have a LOT of weeding to do, and I don't really know how to go about it. We seriously have a garden of just bloody Golden Rod.
We'll just not tell H about this little fact, m'kay?
I'm pretty sure that I pulled out a couple of actual plants when weeding and that I left a weed--but it was pretty and looked healthy, so maybe it will flower and turn out to be a plant. Clearly I should leave the little plant markers in the ground so that I can see if it was something I actually planted...
