Tell Us Part 2

It seems like everyone here at my work has stories from the weekend.

Any stories?  What did everyone do this weekend?

Re: Tell Us Part 2

  • My weekend got off to a rocky start.   Thursday was a funeral.  Friday we were going to head up north with both of my SILs.  We had to wait for SIL #1 to go to Secretary of State first before we could leave. Then we had to drive to Lansing to drop off a car and then all head up.  On our way to Lansing, we had a tire blow out on 96.  That thing was shredded and smoking!  Changed it on the side of 96 and then headed to Discount Tire.  DH's truck needed new ones and we didn't trust the others.  $937 later, we had new tires. Got up north at 7 pm instead of noon like we planned.

We were there for a couple hours and then I fell down some stairs outside. It was pitch black and I couldn't see the stairs. Missed the last two. Twisted my ankle and hit my toes before falling back on my butt against the stairs.  I have a huge bruise on my butt and my ankle/toes.  Pretty :-p

That was all on Friday!  Saturday was fun at the lake though. :)

  • This weekend I ate a Big Benito pizza (24" round) and a fudgie the whale ice cream cake.  And I lit $hit on fire.

Awesome!  I ate too much pizza & ice cream too.  I left the fire setting to DH though. I was too lazy. That's sad.

  • We initially had no plans until Thursday.

DH said he'd drop me off in Mt. Clemens to hang out w/ a friend during Stars & Stripes. We didn't get down there til the fireworks started. It was stupidly insane. It took DH 3 hours to get home. I felt awful. We went to Madison's where lots of stupid drunk girls in very flimsy dresses were falling down. Pretty funny. Glad I'm old & married.

Saturday, friends came down from up north. Went out again w/ friend from Friday & her date. We ended up at Blackfinn, which is always good for people watching. My friend got cut off, and her date got kicked out for supposedly peeing on the floor in the bathroom. Got home, other friend was throwing up in my backyard. The next day, both friends were sick. I was soooo glad I wasn't sick!

Spent Sunday shopping all day & drinking margaritas w/ DH's cousin. I feel like I need rehab after this weekend.

That really sucks! How are you feeling today?

Glad you had fun on Saturday though!

  • Nothing too awesome.  We got the nursery completely painted including painting the walls, stripes on the bottom half, ceiling, trim/doors, and putting in a chair rail.  We didn't finish painting the furniture, but finished priming & putting two coats of base coat on two dressers, a desk, chair, bookcase, headboard, mirror, and a total of 14 drawers between all of 'em (we're using my childhood furniture as nursery furniture, so we're painting it all now even though we won't use a lot of it until the kid is older).  We've still got to put the next coat & faux wood texture finish on tonight and then clear coat maybe tomorrow.  Whew!

I'm fine. Just a little bruised.  Saturday was amusing though.  MIL's lake house is near a state park.  You can sneak in around a fence across the street.  People always park on her street and sneak in when the park is full.  This year the state cops came and ticketed the illegally parked cars. Then it started raining and the cop stood near the fence where you sneak in. We watched him hand out tickets to the people coming back out their cars for sneaking in the park.  It was funny because it wasn't us!  People act surprised that a state park is full in the afternoon on a holiday weekend. Duh!

  • We went up north to West Branch for the long weekend.  It was DS's first time up north!  The weather was perfect so we just went out on the boat, went to the sand bar, went to the outlet mall, made smores, etc.

Then yesterday we were back home in Clawson and they did their big firework show and carnival.  We took DS up to the park for the carnival and he played the duck pond game and won a prize.

  • We had a really great weekend on Mackinac Island.  I don't think it could have been any better.

We spent three nights on the island then hit the road at 10am yesterday morning and made it back around 3:30 and spent the rest of the day at DH's aunt and uncle's place on the lake.  It was so nice and relaxing.

  • Nothing too exciting.  We didnt have anywhere to be which was great actually :)  Got a ton of stuff done around the new house.  Painting is all done and all the furniture we have is where it is going to go.  The place still looks empty, but thats an ok thing I think.  Rather it look empty and we can add to it than it be too cluttered.  Lucas played with his water table, but hated his pool - which bums me out a little bit.

  • DH had to work Friday and Saturday, so Emma and I just hung around at home and tried to get some things done.

I ran some errands on Sunday afternoon and then we went to my parents' house for a BBQ for dinner.  It was delicious and Emma went swimming in their little pool.  The weather was nice and it wasn't too hot, so I enjoyed sitting outside watching her.

Yesterday we went to Okemos to spend the afternoon with DH's family.  We met FIL's gf's kids (strange sounding, I know) for the first time as well as their families.  We went swimming in her condo's pool which I was not looking forward to, but it turned out alright and we had a fun time.  Emma really warmed up to everyone and had fun with the other little girls there.  I enjoyed talking to her two daughters and was sad that we had to leave early for DH to come home and go to bed.

Geez!! Sounds like you really did have a rough start to the weekend.  I blew out a tire last summer on 96 during rush hour on a 100 degree day.  It was definitely not fun.  It also ended in us getting all new tires to the tune of almost $900.  I feel your pain.

That really sucks that you fell down.  Thankfully you didn't get hurt any more seriously!

  • DH & i were both off all of last week.  We did lots of little projects around the house & just lots of little things and did quite a bit of drinking!  We did go up north for a couple days, stopped at the casino on the way up, went to frankenmuth on the way home. Went to a few bbq's & had the IL's over for a BBQ last week one night.  The only fireworks however that we seen were at the racetrack friday night, that was fun.

Saturday we signed a contract with our contractor for the bathroom & sunday we made our final decisions on the tile, i'm so excited for a new bathroom!!

Today was very hard to come back to work.
