Please give me your opinions regarding our nursery!

We spent a ton of time this weekend looking at fabrics and paint colors but I'm just not falling in love with anything.  I've made 4 different options below, please let me know what you think.  All along I had planned on needing curtains, a crib skirt, and a pillow for the glider but last night it dawned on me that a crib skit really won't be seen through our crib!  So now I'm even more confused!!

I need a lot of curtains b/c of the bay window so I don't want to use a fabric that is too busy or overpowering.

For all the pictures the top row is the windows, the rug we already bought, and the crib.  The glider is going to be grey.  The middle row are the fabrics and the bottom is the most likely paint choice.

Option 1 - Purple, yellow, gray

This one I had planned on doing the floral fabric with all three colors for the crib skirt and then picking one of the purple fabrics for the curtains but now I don't really know what to do!

Option 2 - Blue, Pink, and Green

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the paisley fabric but figure it's too much for curtains so I don't even know where I'd use it!  There are two different paint colors on this one although they are very similar

Option 3 - Blue and Red

With this one I'm not sure what color we would paint the walls.  I guess the light blue color in the floral fabric.

Option 4 - Lots of colors!

  • i LOOOOVE #3. i think you could paint the room a really light grey if you didn't want to do blue.

i also love #2, and i think with the way those windows are, you could use the paisley fabric as the far left and far right curtains, and then use a coordinating solid for the rest of the curtains on the large windows.

i dig #1 too, so i'm not much help =)

I like option #1 a lot.  I actually have option #3 in my oldest daughters room.  Her window treatments are very simple in the coordinating stripe and the trim is this leopard print.  It doesn't look skanky, just kind of fun.  Her duvet is the paisley on one side and the dot on the other and then her bed skirt is the same as the window treatments.

  • I, too, like the paisley in # 2 but # 1 could also be cute. I like # 3 but not for a baby's room. I'm not crazy about # 4. As for what to do where, I'm probably not much help!
  • #2 & #3 seem to match the rug better. #2 is a little more girly, while #3 seems a little more gender neutral (even with the florals). I like both of them, but would probably go with #3, since you could use it for your future childrens.

For paint on #3 I would either go with light blue, or even better, a light gray, find a gray paint sample that matches the gray in the floral, and go up a couple shades on the card. It might seem busy, but either fabric would be fun for curtains, if you kept the rest of the room fairly pared down.

  • I would go with # 3. I think it matches the rug and the glider best, and the fabrics are cute. I agree with going with a very light gray paint for the walls.

Also, I would still do a crib skirt.  You can do a cheap solid skirt with just a wide band around the bottom of the fabric that you want to be seen.  I don't know where you are getting your bedding but I LOVE the adjustable crib skirts, a nestie used to have an etsy shop and made great bedding but she isn't doing it anymore.  This is like what I'm talking about though, it's 4 seperate pieces of fabric that you can adjust the ties on.  It's so obviously brilliant!

  • i love # 2. you could do curtains in the polka dot with tie backs in the paisley. i also adore #3 - i think it looks really classy, but maybe not baby - a light grey would look nice on the walls.
  • I really like option number 2. It's fun and cheery. I also like number 3 but not for a babies room.

  • Thanks girls!!  Some work friends told me the rug looks blue, it's really grey.  H won't let me paint the room grey though b/c out bedroom is grey. . . he's weird!

  • I like #2 most. You can also make the paisley into a pillow on the chair.

I also posted some ideas for you in the confession post last week.
