Who survived the weekend?

I did. But barely.  Usually I love long holiday weekends, but this one felt like time was standing still.  It dragged by.

Oh well, it's over now. On to another work week.

Let's make some money ladies!

Re: Who survived the weekend?

  • I survived! It was the first time I was super thankful I can not drink. One of our friends brought over 99 banannas and they were doing shots of that.. ewww..

I was a little sad this morning not another holiday till Labor day. The one great thing about Rhode Island and working there was they are the only state thats still celebrates VJ Day. Only because no one wants to get rid of a day off in August. I guess I can't really complain I will be getting a ton of days off in the fall for Jewish Holidays.

  • Aw, hugs, Alicia.

I made it, too.  It wasn't the best 4th of July weekend I've ever had... K worked most of the weekend, he didn't want to go see fireworks last night so we sat at home watching TV, and one of my grandpa's business buildings burned to the ground yesterday.  I was really upset that I wasn't home with my family yesterday.

Oh well... work week, here I come.  Zumba tonight, so there's that to look forward to. :-)

  • I survived. Busy busy though.

Saturday was work. Sunday was pretty relaxing, I picked two huge bowls (like 8 cups) of wild black raspberries, rode quads with hubby on our little track and felt like an idiot b/c I tried to run over my own foot. *sigh* Had a cookout and bonfire.

Woke up with sore arms Monday. Went kayaking down a river for about 3 hours. Extra sore arms today. Fireworks in our hometown ended the night. Gotta work today 2-9ish Tmw 12-9ish. Whoo. Can't do much of anything until Thursday. Planning on making a batch of black raspberry jam before I head to work today and get a couple loads of laundry done... maybe some dishes. That could be asking a lot before work though. Hmmm.

Yeah, it's pretty bad.  It was an old apartment (that was my first home as a baby) that had been converted into an office space + an adjoining mechanics bay and big garage.  No idea yet where the fire started, but it destroyed the entire building.  Like, nothing is standing anymore.  The firefighters couldn't get the fire out b/c the building had a rubber roof and fires kept flaring back up.  It's really sad and scary.  Thank God they were closed for the holiday yesterday and no one was inside!

  • ugh, i survived, but my body doesn't feel like it.  I have mosquito bites everywhere!  It's obnoxious!

We didn't go see any fireworks b/c everything around here was last night, and the closest ones were at least a half hour away but with traffic, it would have been further.  I told J we could go, but we need to go somewhere that we could park and i could sit in the car/truck b/c I KNEW I would fall asleep b/c I was so tired.  So we didn't go.  Then as I was falling asleep last night, at 9:15, J decided that was a good time to B***h about how we didn't go see any fireworks.

Um, I'm already in and out of sleep, I've done what you wanted this weekend, I'm itchy, and sneezy.  LEAVE ME THE H**L ALONE!

    Ugh.

Why do men just not get it sometimes?!?!?

  • We had a blah weekend. We watched the fireworks in downtown Augusta Saturday night but left before the grand finale to beat the crowd. Wilson did amazing. We also found a dog park and Wilson went Saturday and Sunday and loved it. And we met some people (yay!). Who knew all we needed was a pup? ha

I had to work yesterday because I picked up a 5x week patient Friday and we have to help my sister and BIL move this weekend so working Saturday was out. Oh well. I was back home by 2 so it wasn't bad.

I'm hoping I start getting more hours soon because this lack of money is adding major stress to my life and putting us in a funk. I wish everything didn't take so freakin long with the FD but it is so whatever.

  • best weekend ever.  EVER.

got a surprise early release friday so i did some errands, relaxed, went for a quick jog and went to a party that night.  it was so fun.

saturday we were up and at em early and then went tubing.  we got drunk, sun burnt, ate too much, etc.  got home, took a nap on our beach, woke up at 7 and didnt eat dinner (grilled steaks) until 9.

sunday i baked for our party sunday afternoon.  then napped. ate and drank too much with my inlaws family.  not super swell, but not bad either.  hope in bed (drunk) by 11.

monday we tubed again.  and i ran.  and then we did dinner at my parents house.  again, not super fun but not horrible.

all in all i relaxed,  sun, too much food, much needed long weekend.  it was hard to get back in to the office today.

  • I survived.  Barely.  It was a very busy, very long weekend.

Friday - errands ALL day.  Visited the camp I used to work at which was fun.  My hair appt almost made me late to the rehearsal dinner.  But my hair looks fabulous!  I got red highlights and a trim - I'll have to go back in a couple weeks to cut some more length off.

Saturday - Wedding.  Up early to get my hair done - loved the hairstyle I picked out.  A couple of braids across the front, then swept into a messy offset bun.  Outdoor wedding, in a field in the sun - it was very hot.  The first thing the bridal party did after pictures was grab bottles of water to chug.  Very relaxed reception - no major entrance.  I was disappointed they didn't have any citronella candles or anything.  There was bug spray in the bathroom, and I luckily had some with me.  Unfortunately, I waited too long to put it on and got 5 bites.

Sunday - Baked for family party that had to be moved indoors due to rain.  DH's cousins didn't really show up, and we left early.  He's agreed to attend fireworks with my family next year.

Monday - another family party - more fun.  They had the bbq going and there was plenty of shade so the heat wasn't too bad.  We didn't stay long there either cause DH doesn't know a lot of that side of the family.  And again, not many people our age.  Went home and baked for co-worker's last week.  Watched the Macy's fireworks.

  • We didn't have a very crazy weekend, and I'm glad. We were going to have a party on Sunday but decided last week not to, and everyone was pissed that we didn't. LOL. Whoops. We will next year.

Friday I went home early, ate, and took a three hour nap. We cleaned and prepped food and Jill and Frank came over for dinner and to discuss Disney. They left around 11.

Saturday I slept in until 9 without a sleep aid. Then the stupid graduation party for my lame uncle's kid. On the way there, the spaghetti strap on my dress snapped, and while there my dad blew up the bathroom. Good times. I got home at 9. MFD and I watched 48 hours and passed out.

Sunday I woke up with a headache. I made myself breakfast, then napped from 12-2:30. Around 3 we got Debbie and Laura and headed to a weird party. We left there at 8, dropped Laura off, then went to another party until 11. We had to go to Walfart on the way home for sweatbands for MFD's Monday parades - you simply haven't lived until you've been in a shady Walfart at 11:30 p.m. the night before a holiday. We got home, Gussie got skunked, so we spent two hours dealing with that. Disaster.

Monday I met Laura and Debbie to see the 9:20 Bridesmaids. Holy CRAP that was absolutely hilarious. After that we went and got lunch at Las Margaritas. MFD got home around 4 and we napped until 8. We bathed Gussie again and watched fireworks out front and also on TV.

    Fini.

  • Aieeeee burning buildings. Sorry Rachel that sucks.

We never go see fireworks. We can see some from our house, and we both think they are sort of the same if you see them once you've seen them. hahaha

I don't feel like working today.

  • I survived!  Things at work are slowing down a little, so hopefully I'll be able to post more.  Saturday I leave for Mexico for two weeks (squeeeee!!!!) so I may be swamped with work when I get back - but it will be so worth it!

Things have been good, but really busy.  I've missed you guys.

  • Laura!! Hi!!

Im here. That's about as good as it's getting. I will not go into full weekend recap because fightingfamilydramabullshiz sums it all up. Im exhausted and crazy hungover.

  • Laptop keeps eating my posts.

Summary of the weekend?  MIL is too clingy and demands way too much attention.  We will be distancing ourselves.  And Baby Q had his first swim, first zoo trip and first fireworks.  (Did okay with all three).  Overall, was happy for the three day weekend with hubby & baby.

  • Hi Jess!!!

Susie, that sounds like an adorable bunch of firsts!  I'm sure we'll have clingy-MIL issues when we eventually have a baby, so I'm interested to see how your story pans out.

  • Left for NYC early, early, early on Saturday and got there around 10AM.  It was my late MIL's birthday, so H and I went with SIL to leave some flowers at her grave.  After, we went out to lunch with step-SIL.  Then, SIL had to work, FIL and step-MIL were out running errands all day, so H and I went in to the city together.  We walked around lower Manhattan and South Street Seaport then took the Staten Island ferry across the Hudson River to see the Staten Island Yankees (minor league team) play.  The stadium is beautiful and right on the water!  After the game they had a fireworks display too so that was cool.  After, we rode the ferry back across the river and got to see the Manhattan skyline all lit up at night.  So gorgeous.

Sunday we went to the mall with SIL to take H shopping for his birthday.  He was spoiled and got some nice shiny new stuff =)  Afterwards, we came home, visited with everyone, ate lunch, and became obsessed with watching Dexter on DVD.  One of my new favorite shows!  Later on, we ate dinner, stayed up talking with step-SIL and waited for H's sister to get some.  She left at 3PM to go to the movies with her "friend" yet spent hours on hair, make up, and picking out her outfit.  I told H it must be a date.  She didn't get back until 2AM, so I'm guessing it went well :).

Monday was the cook out at the house.  It was so nice visiting with everyone and we were a little sad that we had to leave in the middle of everything, but it was time to get back home.  We watched the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular on TV, and went to sleep exhausted.

Three day work week for me this week!  I took Friday off so I can go to our house down the Cape for a long weekend and lay on the beach.  So excited!

  • Missed you LauraT! Nice to see you back. Super jealous of your two weeks in Mexico coming up.

Susie yay for a swimming baby. I think babies are a hoot in the pool. Boo for your MIL.

Jessie - I hope your dramz didn't involve your SIL but I'm guessing it probably did? Wah.

    Is it 5 yet?

  • Susie~BabyQ is beyond adorable!!!

Steph~Yes part of it did but I swear everybody fought with everybody at some point. Apparently 100 people together is no good. Toby's cousin's husband and I sat and drank by ourselves in a corner most of the time to try and avoid the wonderfulness.

No darn it! It is not 5 yet! Im sooo not ok with this either.

I'm fairly certain that this is how my mom's wedding will turn out.  Except I will have to PAY to drink in the corner (cash bar).

Also, I think my half-sister (remember, one-week engagement and Applebee's reception?) is pregnant.

I did.  But now I'm more convinced - she has had FB statuses saying that she's giving away clothes because she's gained weight, another saying she is nauseous all the time, and she's inexplicably hungry.

The awesome thing about the 'giving away' clothes post is that she posted a bunch of pics and asked people to tell her which clothes they wanted, and then she told them she wanted $x for those clothes.  Klassy.

  • C'mon Alicia, get with the program - she already got married.  It was only a week-long engagement!!  The weirdest part, for me, is that she bought a wedding dress and veil (I know this because I saw them in her 'for sale' album), but didn't wear them.  If they were only married one week and planning a courthouse wedding from the get-go, why buy the fancy dress?  And if she already had one, why not wear it (she wore jeans and a tee-shirt instead)?
