Good Morning!

Happy Independence Day to our friends south of the border, I hope you all enjoy the day (if you've got it off, and well, even if you don't).

My long weekend was nice.  The pig roast was great on Friday, we raised $2700 for the hemotology/oncology ward at Sick Kids and I had a blast playing with the girls.  Once all the kids were gone it was play time for the adults.  We drank way too much and stayed up way too late, but it was fun.

Saturday we went bike shopping for Derek and Tim as they both need to invest in a road bike for the Ride to Conquer Cancer.  Silly boys wanted to buy the first bikes they were shown.  Thankfully I was there to talk some sense into them.

Yesterday we went to see Transformers in the early afternoon and then puttered around the house.  We went to bed too late, so this morning felt verrrrry early.

How is everyone today?  How as the weekend been so far?

Re: Good Morning!

  • Good morning!

The weekend was great! We headed to Kingston on Friday for my friend's wedding which was fabulous. I am so, so happy for them... when I first met the bride, she had just gotten out of a bad relationship, and I'm beyond thrilled that she's now with an amazing guy. They started dating just before my wedding, and at the wedding, he told me that he knew he wanted to marry her. Sniff sniff.

The reception venue was also perfect for watching Canada Day fireworks... we were right underneath them!

Yesterday we had dinner with my family and the ILs. I'm always worried it will be awkward but they always seem to get along surprisingly well.

One more week of work! It'll be crazy busy but I'm determined to make it through. Once I make two big presentations, today and tomorrow, the pressure will be off a little bit and then my coworkers are throwing me a shower on Thursday.

  • ringy-good luck at your presentation today!

My weekend was good...Friday night Ed and I went to see Transformers at the IMAX (about an hour and a half from our house) so we didn't get home until 2am.  I slept in Saturday until 10 and then we had to go to a town about an hour away for Ed to pick up a minivan for his company.  While we were there we had lunch and then did a little shopping including getting my new iPhone, which I am excited about!  My old one was starting to hate me.  Yesterday we just hung out, grocery shopped, and did TONS of laundry, since I literally have not had a weekend home in 6 weeks...it was needed.

Today is more hanging out.  I will get in a short run (though it is already crazy hot and humid, so it will probably be on the treadmill), then maybe a little gardening if I get ambitious, and some reading on the deck.  We're grilling steak and fish for dinner and then might go watch the fireworks later.

  • There was good and bad to this weekend.

Friday and Saturday were pretty relaxing.  Got in some good work outs.

Saturday night we went to church and then out for dinner before heading to our friends house.  One of my aunt's called while I was at dinner but I didn't hear the phone.  We called after we got out and she was looking for my Dad's cellphone number because she need to get a hold of him.  Turns out my other aunt (Mom's sister) passed away very unexpectedly.  We don't even know what happened yet since the autopsy is still pending but apparently my uncle found her in the jacuzzi in their bathroom.  Still waiting to find out funeral details so I can tell work which day I need off.

After we got to my friends house, a massive storm broke out and I started getting text messages that the power was out in many parts of the city and surrounding area.  With the amount of rain and potentail for the sump pump to overflow, we cut our night short and went out.  Our power WAS out but thanfully it didn't overwhelm the sump pump and cause flooding at all.

Yesterday was long run day.  10.3 miles.  It was pretty hot and I went really slow but it felt good.  The trail where I run had about a dozen large trees down due to storm so I had to do a lot of hurdling and going around obstacles.

Off to work.  Have a great day.

  • Good morning!  I am off today for the Fourth.

Saturday, Jim and I went out late and played mini-golf, which is my favorite thing ever.

Yesterday, we saw Wicked at the Kennedy Center and it was FANTASTIC.

Today, my SIL and I are going for some retail therapy in about an hour.  Then I am getting a pedicure and probably some more yarn (I might be turning into a knitting addict).  Once Jim gets off work, we are going to a party at one of his frat brother's, but I think we are going to pass on fireworks.

  • rxbeth: so very sorry to hear about your aunt. :(

Good morning, everyone. Weekend was good--got some shopping done, enjoyed the weather (Saturday was beautiful here), and today we're having bison burgers for dinner. Right now the H and I are off to the gym, and then it's laundry time. Huzzah?

reba, I loved Wicked. I tried to get tickets for the D.C. run but was priced out. D'oh! I'm glad you enjoyed it! :)

rxbeth, I'm sorry to hear about your aunt.  That storm front looked nasty.  It had mostly petered out by the time it hit us so we got a bit of lightening and some wind with a touch of rain, but nothing nutso.

reba, I love Wicked.  It's definitely in the Top Three (with Les Mis and Avenue Q rounding out the set) for us.

  • Morning kiddos!

RxBeth: Sorry about your Aunt, I hope you find out what happened, I always feel better when I know why something happened.

This weekend we hung out in the hotel, and took Myles to Park City, UT for the street fair/Farmer's Market, it was pretty cool.

We found out a close friend to my parents was killed while riding his bike over the weekend. He was riding on a narrow road and a 98yr old guy hit him. My mom was the one who got the phone call. The cop found Jack's cell phone and my mom's number was the first one in the phone. I feel terrible, the guy was only 66 and in perfect health.

On a lighter note, today we're going to grill out, and walk down to the festival here in town it should be a good time. There's going to be a parade, fireworks, and police demonstrations.

  • Good afternoon ladies!

Still no baby here, three days away from my due date. My mom gets here today so I hope he arrives later this week!

  • Goood.... afternoon!

I just got back from my first day of classes for my drama course. If I'm going to have to spend July inside, I'm glad I'm spending it doing drama! I picked up some canning supplies today, spent waaaay too much at sephora on the way home (curse all that walking), and am steadfastly working towards losing that last stubborn 6 lbs that have been hanging on since Christmas.

  • Good morning (or afternoon), ladies

The weekend has been fabulous.  Bike rides, time with friends, visit with BIL, SIL, & FIL yesterday.  It's all good.

    Happy 4th, everyone!

  • rxbeth - Sorry to hear about your aunt. MO - Sorry about your family friend. Glad to hear you're having a ton of fun with Mr. Myles, though. Utah is gorgeous.

We had the start of a good weekend by lounging at my aunt's pool for a day. Then the chaos started with the dog not eating and not being able to keep anything down. Another vet appointment tonight for more bloodwork and hopefully figuring out if maybe it's just a reaction to the meds or what. I'm always so amazed when my blood pressure is normal at my own appointments, considering how stressed I am constantly at home with the pooches.

Sunday we went to a wedding, and the food was amazing. I was so uncomfortable, though, so we cut it short and left right after the cake. The bride and groom were adorable.

Monday was a totally lazy day finishing up laundry, and then I lounged in the neighbor's pool for a bit. I slept like crap last night and really wish I could've stayed in bed all day.
