Water Bugs

... in my mom's house. In the kitchen.  Blech!!!!!

We're calling in exterminators for quotes, but do you ladies have anything to offer for this situation?

Re: Water Bugs

  • If they are in the kitchen, especially, they are in everything, as in living behind and under cabinets, walls, etc.

We had a bad problem with them in tx, so I had exterminator every 3-4 months.  I literally emptied everything out of every single cabinet in the kitchen and bathrooms and piled it in the middle of the floor so they could spray the cabinets, too.  I moved everything off the floor in closets and everything away from baseboards.  I definitely wanted my moneys worth when they came.

Now I might find an occasional one that finds its way inside, but I do not have to have the exterminators anymore.

  • If your mom has a Pecan tree this is more than likely the source of where they are coming from. I would spray during the Summer, Spring, and Fall seasons. I would also put out the little packs of Raid in between the sprays. This usually will stop the problem and get rid of them. If your neighbors spray, then you will need to spray again because they will just pick up and move to whoever has not sprayed. I hope this helps.
