  • Congrats!!! DH is stationed at Camp Lejeune. He's deployed right now and I'm living back home with my parents but will be back in December! If you have any questions I'll do my best to help you out!! I was there for about a year before he deployed!! I actually like it and I can't wait to move back! Big Smile
  • MCAS and Camp Lejeune are maybe 5 miles apart. I hated Jacksonville. Good luck.

  • I've heard that the waiting for base housing is like 6 months.. is that true? How is the base housing?

Are there reasonable apartments near by? Hubs doesn't really want to live in Base Housing..

Are there many(or any) job opportunities in that area? How close is the beach?

I'm sure I'll have more, I need to think about more!! haha

  • The wait list is very long, im not to sure how long. We didnt live on base because my hubby was against it also. But I've been in the TT1 houses and they are very nice. Not sure about the Midway Park housing. There are alot of nice and reasonable apartments around you just gotta search to see what your looking for. I know theres one part thats very sketchy.. Town Center apartments, I would avoid those lol As for jobs, theres alot of stores around and theres a mall, not sure what your looking to do but I would try Craigslist or even Lejeuneyardsales.com. I know alot of people had trouble finding jobs. I think theres even something on the base website that can help you find employment. Never done it before but thats just what I heard. lol .. Theres a beach right on base so it's very close if you live out in Jacksonville. And about 20 minutes or so you got a bunch of other beaches that are very nice!

The wait list is long, but you can get on it now, call or email the housing office and you can fill out the forms and submit them by email or snail mail. I haven't seen new river housing but Lejeune just got all new housing and it's very beautiful. I'm sure you can look it up online and find the mccs website for new river/Jacksonville area and it will have pics of the houses. Most places in town are pricey for the nicer apartments. The beach is maybe 30 min away, or you could make a little road trip to Myrtle beach SC, much nicer! Wilmington is also close and very fun to visit. Jobs are few and far between. Apply on base, they have job fairs all the time.
