Verdict is in on Casey Anthony case

A verdict has been reached in the Casey Anthony capital murder trial, according to court officials. It will be announced at 2:15 p.m. ET.

I hope that by them not taking a long time that they came to the right decision as I always heard if it doesn't take a jury long to come back that it does not favor the person that is being charged. Let's hope this is the case.

My eyes are glued to the tv right now!

For me, I think she did it- she's guilty.  BUT, you dont know the cause...or who really did it bc there is no real evidence.

  • this is so strange...i have no idea why i care what happens here...3 more minutes..ahhh!
  • My heart breaks for little Caylee. How could they not find her mother guilty? To me her actions spoke louder then any evidence.

    This is what CNN said:

Casey Anthony's defense attorneys maintained that Caylee was not murdered at all. They said the child drowned in the Anthony's above-ground pool on July 16, and that Casey Anthony and her father, George Anthony, panicked upon finding her there and covered up the death. George Anthony denied that in his testimony.

To me isn't that an admission of guilt? Why go a month without reporting her? Why lie? etc. if you are not guilty and really didn't do it?

  • Unfortunately you can only find someone guilty if it is "beyond a resonable doubt" with the circus that went on during this whole trial there wasn't a whole lot of hard factual proof. We may all know that she is guilty, but with the lack of evidence it's hard to prove in court.
  • I don't believe for a minute that she drowned or that george anthony had anything to do with it at all. I understand that they don't have a time, place or cause, but they have a ton of circumstantial evidence and no other reasonable explanation. Casey's a psychopath..hopefully like OJ, she won't be able to stay out of trouble.

Sadly, she'll be able to profit from this. She can write a book or make a movie and get rich.

what will it be like in the anthony household? She called her dad and bother molesters!

I think the jury and everyone else knows she likely did it, but they did not have absolute 100% proof. Lots of people are found guilty with circumstantial evidence, just not Casey Anthony....I feel bad for the jury. They have to feel sick.

I want to know what evidence they did or didn't have.

I can't see how they can say she had nothing to do with it... I thought manslaughter in the very lease...

I'm pretty shocked that she'll walk free in just 2 days.

I can sorta understand about not finding her guilty on 1st degree because yes there was probably not enough evidence. What I guess I don't understand is why didn't they find her guilty on child neglect, at least? The jury knew that she didn't report her child missing, she admitted that she drowned (if that really happened) and she lied about who took her. I guess to me that is child neglect and they had evidence this all happened.

I know I was not on the jury and I was not in the actual courtroom, so I didn't see everything that they saw and heard everything they heard, but I don't get it.

I keep reminding myself that at the end of Casey's life that God will be the final judgement and Caylee will finally have justice. It may not be here on earth but Caylee will have justice one day.

I can't imagine someone so evil that they would murder their child and not care, but I know it happens.

  • I'll admit that I know absolutely nothing about this case...I haven't followed it at all.  Until I read this thread, I didn't even know that her daughter died in a pool.

But I have to agree with Laura...if they don't have hard evidence that proves that she killed her daughter, the jury can't convict.  The jury is asked to keep their emotions out of the decision (and I'm assuming they were sequestered so that they haven't had access to what the media is saying), and they have to give a verdict based solely on the evidence provided.  It's really hard to get a conviction in a case where the evidence is circumstantial because of that "beyond a reasonable doubt" phrase.  It's there to help prevent innocent people from being convicted and/or from being framed, but sometimes that also means that the guilty person goes free.  If/when new evidence comes to light, they can retry the case.

Like I said earlier, they didnt have any evidence.  I had a sinking suspicion she would be found innocent of the murder charges.  Hopefully we wont be hearing too much more about her anymore.

For her sake I hope she goes into hiding and we never hear from her and she never has another child. It just makes me sick that she got off on everything. She is an evil women.

She better go into hiding or protection!  Her family should think about moving as well....

Its so sad that we will never know what happened, and someone got off scott free from this crime :(

  • Sadly, she'll have a movie and book deal before you know it.

  • I was glued to the tv this afternoon watching this. I am shocked she got off on everything except providing false info. Like y'all, I think she did it, but they really didn't have the evidence.
