I started having contractions on sunday around 1230 in the afternoon. They were still around 20ish minutes apart and not very strong either.
My nesting instinct kicked into high gear
I was dusting everything between contractions...while kyle vaccumed...and I delegated other tasks to him as well.
Around 8 pm my contractions started getting MUCH stronger and coming closer together (about 7-10 min apart)
by 10:30 pm they were every 4-5 min so we called the doctor, and he sent us to the hospital. It took a while to load up the car with everything I thought I would need and for kyle to find some of my last minute grab items :-) On the drive there, Kyle had to keep pulling over to the side of the road...I couldnt handle the bumps during contractions.
When we got to the hospital ,I had about 3- 4 contractions by the time I got to triage . I was 5 cm and my water was bulging. The contractions were 2-3 min apart.
They used the bed to transport me to my labor room...and when I scooted onto the table my water broke! The nurse checked me again and I was 7 cm !
They got my IV in and hooked me up again to the monitors. I came to the hospital with a birthing ball, massage tools...etc ...but I couldnt move my contractions were so intense. I begged for some IV pain meds. They didnt help much at all, so I got an epidural. The dr had trouble getting it in. I had about 4 contractions during that time (trying so hard to stay still) .
This was my saving grace. My pain in my stomach was gone...but the pressure I felt was unbelievable. So, the nurse checked me again...I was 9 1/2 cm
Soon , I started pushing. Then before I knew it the Doctor came in and the baby was born :-) We got to the hospital around 11:30 pm and at 3:26 am our son was here.
Eli Daniel weighed 7 pounds 11 oz ,and he was born at 39 weeks and 5 days. He was 20 1/2 inches long :-)
The doctor did an episiotomy , thus I am in quite a bit of pain...but it is getting better .
My husband and mom were there for me throughout my entire labor and delivery. I couldnt have done it without them. My husband said and did all the right things...my mom breathed with me through my contractions ( I would tense up...she showed me how to breathe to help).
here is a picture from right after he was born and also one of Eli's professional newborn pictures (our first family pic)
We are going home sometime today (wedensday).
