Cover letter question
This may be rather lengthy, but I think the background is important.
My husband and I both graduated from professional school in May 2011. We recently relocated for his internship to an area where there aren't any (known) open positions in my field. We will be here for a year and then will be moving again (7 hours away) for his residency.
With income-based repayment +/- unemployment deferral for loans, we can make it work this year without additional income on my part, so I'm not too concerned about finding a paying job (though it would obviously be nice). I am licensed in the state and would like to (NEED to) gain experience, however, since I don't want everything I learned from rotations to be forgotten. How would you approach this in a cover letter and/or the objective portion of my CV? since I am willing to a. volunteer, b. provide relief work if one of their associates is sick, or c. work part or full time.
Also, at what point would you disclose that you will guaranteed be leaving in one year?

IMO you have a different CL whether you're looking to volunteer or whether you're looking for a paid position.
I wouldn't disclose anything. Just apply.

I guess my problem is that no offices within an hour are currently hiring (there are 20ish offices within an hour). Should I start by sending out my CV + cover letter to a few of the closest places?
I guess I just don't want to screw myself out of getting paid if there is someone who is covertly looking. Should I just suck it up, send out the volunteer CL to all of the places since I really do need experience?

In your CV, I would make a general note saying you are open to a variety of working arrangements but are most interested in gaining valuable experience.
