  • I didn't follow it that closely, but based on all the evidence against her I am shocked.

  • stunned are mine

most of my work is done on the defense side of things and all that's needed is the seed of reasonable doubt. for her to be found not guilty on all of the major counts (yes lying to cops is bad but in the scheme of things, this was FAR from the worst thing she did) means she had some super top notch lawyers.

sucky thing is that due to the double jeapordy clause in the bill of rights, we can't re-try her.

  • I'm not really surprised. There was way too much reasonable doubt in the case to really have a solid conviction.

I'm not saying I think she is innocent or that the case doesnt make me sick.. just to be clear. I just am not surprised thats how it ended up.

  • Not that I think she was innocent, but I'm honestly not that surprised. The jury had to be beyond reasonable doubt in order to recommend the death penalty for her, and well, there were just too many unknowns and oddities.

    So sad all around.

What the heck is she going to do with her life now? Has OJ been able to successfully reinvent himself?

  • I am just stunned. I am flabergasted that her defense says she lied because she was abused by her father. I just don't get it. I am so sorry for that little girl who's life was cut short, and that no one is taking responsibility for it.
  • I admit I haven't followed the case much, but from what I've read it definitely sounds like something was not right at all. Casey's actions were clearly not those of a person who was acting in their right mind. I can't imagine someone's child drowning and then trying to cover it up unless they thought they would somehow be responsible for the death. I also can't imagine getting tattoos saying "beautiful life" and going out partying right after my child died. I can't imagine the child's grandfather (a former cop) putting duct tape on the child's mouth and dumping the body in the woods to make it look like a kidnapping/murder. But, I'm also not crazy. And I know that all kinds of crazy people exist in this world who do all kinds of things that wouldn't make a lick of sense to the average person.

While a big part of me thinks Casey is guilty of something -- murder, negligence, child abuse, stupidity? I also understand that our justice system is designed to try to prevent innocent people from being convicted of crimes they didn't commit. And sometimes that means guilty people walk free because there isn't enough evidence to convict "beyond a reasonable doubt". From what I've read, I can see how a jury may have had a hard time feeling secure in that "beyond a reasonable doubt".

That said, I hope to God that Casey never breeds or comes near another child again. She's clearly a waste of human flesh. Hopefully karma exists, and she'll get whatever she truly deserves.

OJ is in jail for assault for like the next 10 plus years.

  • I'm really not surprised. With the amount of media coverage it's had, clearly this whole thing has been a circus and about fame and money not justice.
  • Also disgusted about the verdict - who knows how the jurors felt or what it was like for that month or so since they were all sequestered, maybe they just wanted to go back home to their jobs & family or normal life. I believe she or her dad (or maybe both) were responsible somehow. Not saying her mom is off the hook either but something doesn't add up. Since she already served 3 years in jail she could maybe be in there for 1-1.5 years.

The judge definitely got his 15 minutes. And he and any number of the other people involved (like lawyers, Casey, etc.) could make money off of this. I forsee book deals, made for TV movies, interviews on news/gossip programs. Etc. Lord knows the people involved in the OJ case took what they could get.
