Major WTF.  So maybe she herself didn't commit the crime, but she is lying about something.  I don't understand the logic at all.

    Meh.

Can't say I followed even one minute of this trial.

  • There was solid evidence proving that she lied to the police (re: her employment at Universal for example).

The evidence on the charges of killing her daughter were more circumstantial and I think the defense did an excellent job of planting doubt.  This shows how the burden of proof (beyond a reasonable doubt) is so high for the prosecution in criminal cases.

I'm not too emotionally invested in this case, but do find the verdict interesting.  I haven't followed enough to have formed any sort of solid opinion on her guilt or innocence.

  • Poor little baby :(

I think it's odd that Casey's parents didn't react AT. ALL. to the verdict.

Casey will lead a terrible life full of judgement from everyone in society. It's not like she'll walk away and go back to a normal life.

    Listen to this.

  • She'll be partying in less than 2 months I guarantee if she gets credit for time served. I feel bad for whomever decides to date her next or if she has any other children in the future. It's a whole messed up situation and I think that whole family is messed up.

  • Sounds really worried about her kid huh.

  • I can't see YouTube at work.  But lack of concern and being a bad mom =/= murdering her kid.  I'm not saying she's innocent, but I really don't think there was enough evidence presented to convict her.

Thank you for clearing things up for me.  You're right.  I guess I'll just stop being angry about the verdict.

  • I'm sure the jury did their job. Maybe we should be more angry at the prosecutors who took the case to trial without enough to convict. It's just so sad!

  • Can someone explain to me why this trial is SUCH a big deal?  Seriously, I don't understand, but I would like to.

Yes, it's completely terrible that the little girl was murdered.  That is of course gut-wrenching.

But, unfortunately, she's not the first little girl to be murdered.

So why is this case such a national sensation?  Please explain why it's different!

  • I have no idea what this is about. I must live under a rock or something.

And Tigers, let me guess, you've been following coverage of the case via Nancy Grace?

Yes, I have TONS of time to sit in front of the TV and watch Nancy Grace reiterate the same sh*t over and over for several years.

I have heard bits and pieces of the case through the news playing in the background or in passing or on my morning radio station.  So, I guess since I didn't do any detective work and produce any evidence, I am not entitled to state an opinion nor am I entitled to embrace my maternal instincts and know something sounded off?

  • Ok now I REALLY feel like I live under a rock. I have no idea who Nancy Grace is, either.

I think because the girl was missing for *31* days before the Casey told anyone. Then it was a fire storm of "Where the heck is the baby?!" and "Why didn't Casey tell anyone she was gone?!" and "She told us she was with the nanny, but the nanny doesn't even exist!"

    LMAO! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

    I *heart* you, Tigers.

P.S. We all know if we DID have time to sit around and watch T.V., it'd be Real Housewives of SomeRandomCity. Definitely not Nancy Grace.

    Lol-ing still.

Thanks for the response.  I guess that helps explain it some.
